I think the failures really depend on the individual as opposed to the training received. A new hire in my class was furloughed and had not flown for around 8 months prior to training and did fine. Another new hire did not pass groundschool, he also did not want to study with anyone. Training is just as tough as any other 121 carrier so i really think it is up to how much effort one wants to put into it.

If you have your boyfriend/girlfriend show up during your groundschool and stay with you (it happened) you will probably struggle...again individual choice.
