I do commute... I have my entire career. My personal pet peeve was always when meetings were scheduled after bids closed. In my opinion it's just as easy to attend a meeting when you commute because you can bid a trip that fits in with both the meeting and the commute and you don't need to give up a day off to be a active participant.
