Carl, I never "turned down" a major job. I hired on at ASA in 1994 after waiting years because of the "Gulf War 1/early 90s" downturn. Even then, it was a slow upgrade. I wasn't "qualified" until late 2000 given the 1000 turbine PIC requirement. At that time, I looked at the economic situation and the current financials of the majors and decided it wasn't prudent to go to the bottom of a major list. The economy was declining rapidly after the dot.com bubble burst, and the legacy pension plans were in bad shape...The numbers didn't look good.
That turned out to be the right assessment and was reinforced with the 911 attacks....If I had hired on at United in 2000, I would still be furloughed 11 years later...
Scope was sold years ago by the majors, including YOU...The majors didn't want to fly "little airplanes" for some reason...I have my suspicions as to why, but I will save those....
