The FAA, if it reacts at all, will likely react only to issues brought up in the official report of the accident. The envelope issues should be understood by all pilots, and be well understood by all professional pilots operating routes where fuel burn off can lead to significant weight changes as the flight progresses. We'll have to wait till the final report to see what the key findings and causal factors are, pilot error being a possibility.

That being said, a discussion of possible factors in an accident that yields a greater understanding of safe flight is always positive, even if ultimately the discussion centers around issues that are not found to be causal factors in the final report. The discussion of icing and tail stalls on this forum during the Colgan investigation being a good example.
