I was impressed with their stance on unstacking and refusal to accept many of the company's BS proposals. However this type of communication should not be an exception but rather the norm. This goes for the union AND the company. The company consistently short staffs us, our numbers are in the cellar, and yet the company remains silent on the issue. Communication goes a long way to comfort the employees that are working so hard to keep this company upright. I'm so sick and tired of nobody in this company communicating. MX, scheduling, and flight control are in the same room and they can't even talk to eachother.
If I have a specific issue about my schedule then yes I will contact a rep. But with regard to the entire company and the awarded schedules the union should communicate to US. Wouldn't it be easier and more efficient to communicate to all pilots at once rather than explain the same thing 1700 times to each pilot?
Right, you
shouldn't even need to seek out a rep to find out what the
Company is doing. Because they may not even know what the crystal palace is doing across the road. However...
If you have a question...about God knows what subject matter, I'm simply reminding folks that there are elected representatives and volunteers who will be more than happy to actually get a phone call from a pro-active pilot rather than a reactive pilot.
Communications are being worked on heavily right now, but it is a two-way street. Information and data need to come in regarding issues. If your reps don't know what is wrong, they'll never know because they're not mind readers. Which was my point to squaretail, be it the awards for June or anything else...at some point, someone, somewhere down the line, has to pick up that phone or type up an e-mail. Hopefully the P2P program will help funnel more information back through the LECs in IAD and ATL, and even directly to the MEC or Committee Chairman. But that's only ONE tool available to the pilot group. Coupled with normal communication avenues (phone, e-mail), and recently released social media avenues - I can't quite see how someone can not have their problems or issues heard by one of their status reps - if they'd like. Certainly know enough folks just like talking and would rather not get any sort of enlightenment on a subject area.
(for the record, I'm agreeing with you...)
That said, I'm waiting for the information to come back as far as
why opentime seems so much, and yet there is an increase of people on reserve in most seats. That's all I can do. No sense doing any sort of fire-breathing just for entertainment's sake
