Air Wisconsin Interview
I have an interview with Air Wisconsin on Tuesday, and am a little worried because I do not have updated information on what to expect. I know the study the normal ATP stuff, but I would like to know some more information, if anyone knows. I checked on the gouges, and they are from back in october, so I believe the gouge is a little out of date. I would appreciate any information. Thanks!
|
More than likely, is the exact same process.
Do the sim prep, be friendly, be yourself, and you will be fine. Good luck! |
My gouge in '05 was the same stuff they used in '03...
No ATP stuff or test needed AFAIK, just situational questions, maybe a question or two on an airplane you flew. Do the sim prep, not only to practice but if they like you when you do it you'll get good comments for the interview (yes it's part of the interview...). Look through your logbook to come up with stories. It'll be competitive, they ain't hiring many. |
Well that sucks, cause I will not be able to make the sim prep because I got short notice and have to work tommorrow! DAMN IT! Any idea what the sim ride is about? What approach?
|
Didn't they tell you about the sim profile? You can download it at Pearl Aviation's website, www.pearlaviation.com. It really isn't that bad, the prep basically is there so you can leave saying "oh that wasn't bad." They hire personality, so as long as you show them you have one, you will be fine. No written, maybe 2-3 questions on your current ME, and some basic HR questions. They are good at hiring quality people, so don't sweat it!

as for the interview, just study the profile on pearlaviation website, and you'll be fine (i didn't have the chance to do the simprep either, but i studied the profiles and did just fine). they are strong on CRM, so they will be studying your personality. most of the questions are HR, with maybe few on your ME. yes, right now you'll be seating reserve long time, but AWAC is a great company with a solid future and a very good contract. i'll rather be here than in most of the regionals out there. if you leave in the northeast it could be the right choice for you. and thigs will pick up here as well, with the major and everyboy else hiring. good luck with your interview!

getting sold after our Airways contract runs dry, or maybe just liquidation? I hope for the best, but seriously...

It is a pretty good place to work, just don't make the mistake of having unrealistic expectations like I did... We would love to have ya though. Good Luck with the interview. |

Groovin, you off reserve yet?

AWAC is what it is. The best part of this company is the people who work here. We have lots of good pilots and more importantly, really fun, knowledgeable pilots.
The pilot group is the strength of this company. So from that perspective you will have a good time here. Things operationally are tough at the moment, but we lean on each other and even though I had a really, really, really cruddy day yesterday, I ended the last flight laughing all the way to the hotel. After a 15+ hour duty day. |

And on their bathroom mirror. And on their car dashboard. In my interview I was told upgrades were 22 months...and I fully expected my upgrade to be at least double that. Current returns are not indicative of future results... |

Hey everyone. I had an interview with AIRWIS today but my company (Waterski) wouldn't allow me the day off. Imagine that. I like this company already. Sarah has allowed me to reschedule for next month so I will bid my schedule around that. AIRWIS is the place for me. Hope to be there with you all!

Sure Mesa and Repubshuttleaqua is having $2500 sign-on bonuses but they also don't say that the bonus is spread out over 10 or so years. And if you leave early, they take all the money back. Upgrades are pushing 3 to just over 3 years right now. Quite a few FO's have also skipped upgrade just to enjoy seniority. Korean1DR- how's the commute? |

Let's see - reserve FO @ AWAC or senior FO or junior CA at....ExpressJet, SkyWest, Pinnacle, Republic, etc. etc. etc. Who will make more? Granted, AWAC is a GREAT company to work for. Absolutely amazing. AWAC's 3 year upgrades won't continue. By the time the new CA class upgrades, it would have been 8 months for exactly 8 CA upgrades. Nothing to write home about... Don't mislead people by telling them upgrade is "3 years". It may be right now, but that was because of some huge attrition rates with the switch in flying. |
I will be here 3 years in a few days. Getting close. But no cigar kids. Upgrades are when they are. Last year they were 2.5 years. Now it is anyone's guess. We have upgraded about a 15 pilots in the past 6 months. I do think that will change, but right now it is very slow.

Don't move to DCA. I have tried it. WAY too expensive. Switzerland was less expensive. No joke.
Unless you have money or a two-income household, moving to the DCA area is extremely expensive. Houses that are affordable in the Midwest are $500,000 and up in the DC area. Apartments are not less than $1000 for decent, non-warzone apartments. I am on a waiting list for a good DCA crashpad and I think that is the way to go. As soon as my lease in DCA is up I will be moving again. |
