“One was so ill, he sweated profusely and was unable to sit in the co-pilot’s seat on our approach to Beijing airport. In the taxi, on the way to the hotel, he was violently sick and his skin was ashen gray.

At the time, there were no restrictions in place to prevent the virus from entering the country. Even if flights from China had been halted before, the virus would have probably entered via eventual epicenters in Europe. In fact, the US had started to become a hotspot after Northern Italy became heavily infected.

I don't know of anyone who has had the misfortune of HAVING to fly with Vaughn that would lend any credibility to anything he had to say. He is nothing more than a sad pathetic SCAB who seeks attention ... pleads for attention. Some publications will print anything.

I was thinking the same too. Although we do need some sort of substantial IQ to operate in aviation this thread makes it clear it’s not enough for other stuff. The reason the statistics don’t look too menacing is because we’re doing exactly what some here don’t want to do. It’s only been like 2 weeks since we all started to take this seriously, people have to be prepared for this to have years of effect.

I agree ... I know a couple of truck drivers whose thoughts on the situation is similar to the pilots here. Brothers in arms for some I guess.

When do you think it will be acceptable to leave?

If there's no cure for another 12-18 months, that means shelter in place until then. Otherwise it's all for nought, because people are going to catch the virus and die.

Is that what you are prepared to do? Is that what we as a society are prepared to do? Can we make it that long? Won't "essential activities" just wind up spreading it anyway?

I'm honestly curious what you think.

Its going to vary by area ... In my area its forecast to peak in another two weeks ... So I'm guessing another month for me. If I need it I want to make sure they have one of those iron lungs for me at the hospital.

In the mean time I am being productive ... Digging the shelter a little deeper ... growing organic foods .... Got to go now ... Giving a lesson to the kids in the neighborhood on how to field dress squirrels.

I don't agree. I wish I could but I don't. People can make themselves look amazing on paper and still be a total clown when you speak with them. I know people with PhDs that would make you bury your face in your hands when they piped in with their opinion.

“good testing”??? I almost spit my drink out. Only testing those with severe symptoms is by no means good. Not to mention now that is been circulating in the USA for over 2 months we need an antibody test to see who had actually had it. Till that happens we are no where near good testing
