The entire merger and timeline straight from the SEC filing:
Start with “Background of the Merger” https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/d...m#rom179667_41 Select Table of Contents at top, and then link towards bottom for Background of Merger. Long read but it tells you exactly how it all went down. |

Maybe if Alaska wasn’t so sh1t scared they would have walked away too. We would all have been a lot happier and better off. AS over-payed by lots but given their assessment of the consequences of not winning the bid, they had no choice... |
I like this part:
“ $44.75 per share in connection with an acquisition of the Company and requested that the Company indicate whether it would be willing to accept a lower offer price.” They thought even $45 was too much and wanted lower. Enter jetblue’s bidding war and Cush/Carty double team effort and they sold this thing for $57. |
Don't be so naive. Branson had a plan from day one to sell VX to the highest bidder. Small businesses with savvy and shrewd entrepreneurs do this for a living. Fortunately for you, you should be grateful that it was an airline with a strong balance sheet that acquired your beloved but flailing company. We, the labor, are just pawns in the game and nothing more than cog in the machine.

Not “fortunate” for me. I’d much rather have been bought by jetblue. And I like how you say we Labor are just pawns in the machine but then turn around and sling mud at VX guys and call them “red headed undesirables.”
Slinging mud? With the exception of the older pilots who went to VX to finish out their careers, who in their right mind would park there thinking it's a career airline? For the sake of being hip and cool place to work? It's mind boggling to think that some of you don't take the time to thoroughly research the company that you'd want to make a career out of. Every way you cut and slice it, VX was a stepping stone airline job, not a career. As a matter of fact, SkyWest is a far more secure and better career than VX ever was, assuming career expectations and longevity potential. The younger crowd at VX, say less than 40, were most likely there because none of the big boys and/or reputable major airlines would even look at them. So what you are saying is you'd rather work for VX than the big 3, SWA, FedEx, and UPS? Undesirable red headed step children? You bet. |

I guess it all depends on what you want in life. I personally would never work for jetBlue. Oil is still relatively cheap and the business is thriving for now so even shell companies are turning good profits but when the next down turn comes, B6 will have a day of reckoning. Round two of dog eat dog days are just around the corner.
