Lol, honestly, listen to yourselves. These two guys are laughing their ass’s off at how personally you're taking their musings. I would.

personally, i find it hilarious that almost all of you care so much about what these two folks write. OTZ, in particular is trolling you guys hard, and you’re playing into his game.

If OTZ/MEA truly wanted to help us they would keep our union leadership informed and stay off here.

Peeps that have been through this kind of time before will tell you that traditionally the Company and/or Union will tell you either nothing or outright positive falsehoods to keep the operation (what little of it's going on) as dependable as possible.

Then one day, boom, out of nowhere, the company (with adequate surprise/regret email from union) will drop the bomb of how displacements and furloughs will start almost immediately.

If OTZ/MEA's information is possibly helping people prepare for that event, then let them take heed. If you don't believe what they say is accurate, then ignore and wait for the upgrade time discussion posts to reappear.

Yeah, they don't have enough knowledge of the evolving situation yet to know exactly how bad it's going to be, but it's pretty obvious all the majors will shrinking (some probably more than others). If you're junior better plan accordingly.

One would hope that most pilots understand the ramifications of parking most of the fleet. Fall furloughs are likely. No inside information is needed to see that. Alaska Airlines has always run with minimum staffing. The head shed is saying 25 to 30 % smaller starting this fall. 10-12% of that number will be blunted by Retirements and long term leaves. No inside information needed to figure that.
M&O are good at whipping people up. That could help with pilot myopia but is not necessary.

The only part of their insider info that is useful relates to the move towards single fleet. It will bring it’s own mini-furlough with additional permanent staffing reductions due to increased efficiency in reserve levels. We went through that when the MD-80/737-200 fleets went away.
The rest of the narrative is just a couple of pilots going on about nothing....

Just out of curiosity, what do you mean mini-furlough? Are you talking about an additional furlough not related to covid? Thank you!

Single fleet will reduce head count in a time of no growth. Even with a one for one swap. That effect will just be built in to the larger Covid Pandemonium reduction. M&O have access to that formulation. If they choose to share it.

Is that just due to training and reserves on a single fleet?

And the reduction of cross-fleet training needs to zero. Once the dust settles.
