The pols are actually scared to go there IMO. They don't want the political blowback, or the economic blowback. In the US at least.

Vaccines keep people out of the hospital so the fear is way down, and the ones who don't want the vaccines weren't scared to begin with.
I agree the political blowback would be monumental. Ridden out on a rail, with tar and feathers.

It's always something. All you chicken littles who fear the future belong here at the eskimo. Just don't cry like a little girl during the next round of flogging by this ruthless management. No guts, no glory! If the big three or FedEx call and you don't jump ship, no one can help you. Embrace the suck and enjoy the mediocre career.

Well they have to call…

It’s not a matter of where one stands politically or how one views masks or vaccinations. That horse has been mashed to hamburger.

It’s just that tomorrow our economy could be shut down again and there would zero remorse from almost everyone I interact with here in Seattle that isn’t involved with aviation. In fact they’d be stoked because it would mean they could work from home even longer. Hourly service workers, including pilots be damned.

The decision makers are largely immune from their decisions and that at least for me, is a big consideration when thinking of giving up 4 years of seniority. I’m even safe from OTZs predictions on furlough. It’s a lot to just cast aside.

This! The biggest result of the "pandemic" is that it made the American people completely comfortable with socialism. Stay home, get free stuff.

I really don't see us coming back from that. They have a taste for it now. It's never going to be the same.

Just a respectful opinion, but "us" and "they" (your words) are the cancer that has evolved out of all of this. Pilots talk of "divide and conquer" during negotiations; we are seeing it now from our past and current elected representatives. Until the dark money and corruption in elections are addressed, we, our kids and grandkids have a long road ahead.

Unsettled times for sure.

Easy on the hyperbole. "Stay home, get free stuff" in and of itself is not socialism.

I have been totally transparent, I have given out what I know, when I know it. When I said, it looked like SFO was closing, no one on here even knew it was on the table. Up to the 11th hour the company was dug in on closing it. Union pressed hard as there were a lot of good reasons to keep it open. Now with the current trajectory, it looks like the union probably saved the company from themselves. Thanks to OneWorld, SFO now looks to be growing considerably over the next few years. This stuff changes all the time, some is how dynamic our industry is, some Covid, some is our managements style. For better or worse, I just give you all what I got, for some reason that upsets a lot of people. Go figure, I thought most would want a heads up.
Still there has only been unsubstantiated blanket statements about how wrong I have been… where’s the evidence? Dig, I think you will see my accuracy is pretty unbelievable, there is a reason for this guys🤔

Echelon wants us to take OTZ's opinion as if he's just some anonymous internet crank. But it all honesty, people treat him here like he's some freaking oracle.

He's not. He's gotten more wrong than right. And all his "news" is doom and gloom for anyone on the Airbus side. It's deliberate.
Please provide all the things I got so wrong.

Well if this merger goes, we would still be operating 10 321’s and inherit 18 from HAL… this isn’t hard. We will be operating zero 320’s by the end of summer 2023. Make sense?
This isn’t doom and gloom, it’s just the plan, the plan of a company that owns Boeings.

Wait.. that's your reasoning? The 150 seaters are going away, but the 179 seaters are staying? "The Airbusses* are gone by 2023" prediction just got a lot more murky.

BWAHAHAHA... Let's throw some 330s into the mix and see the logic behind "Proudly all Boeing" still painted on the side.
