Uh huh. Then where? Alyeska? I can't find it there either. I don't EVER recall saying yeah lets do 90 seat scope. Every phone call I've gotten from NH I've made my opinion on scope clear. It's a must have item. You literally made up a statement yourself, but said this is (me) saying it, and put quotes on it to make it look like as if I had actually said it. That's a pretty low blow.

But I'm surprised you don't remember. I suppose with 10,000 self-assured posts they're hard to keep straight.
You don't recall saying...
"Zero scope is like having unlimited scope, so 90 seats is a big improvement."
You also had the naive notion that we could go back and negotiate scope down at a later date. And there ain't no putting the toothpaste back into that tube.
I guess everyone will have to determine for themselves if that sounds like ShyGuy or not.

This is an incredible PR campaign you've got going. Unfortunately, Alyeska archives only goes back 2 years so it looks like it's lost to the sands of time.

I think people can determine that you're just full of it.

Lots of accusations out there, Purdue. You offer up no proof whatsoever, however. Your personal recollection doesn't count, btw.
I happened to look back at Shy's posts yesterday while trying to find this mythical statement you attributed to him and instead came up on a whole bunch of posts from a few years back in which he clearly made his stance on scope at Alaska and overall within the industry known:
and an earlier comment to a DL pilot regarding scope:
See? Actual traceable quotes. Not stuff someone just claims to remember.
Not sure why you have such a personal dislike for the guy, Perdue. Over and over Shy has simply said he's not miserable at AS, a stance you and some others abhor for some reason.

Absolutely!
Eye on the ball. There's a reason mgt wants the union to pinpoint exactly what part of Section 1 that needs to be negotiated. They don't want to risk it going to arbitration per the current AS contract in order to get a JCBA. We need it all: weight restriction, seat limit, grandfather in current ones, restrict future RJs, and ratio for RJ removal for any loss of mainline 737/320 fleets.

Delta pilots farmed out scope. Stop justifying it as "well, it was going to happen anyway I might as well blah blah." Delta pilots opened up the gates of hell to RJ flying that permanently outsourced QUALITY MAINLINE jobs. Remember those jets called 727s, DC9s, F100s, all of those were the 70-110 seat market and they are now ALL outsourced with CRJ-700s/900s and EMB 170/175s and in some cases 190s. Delta's DFW to LGA service is an E170 holy cow.
Stop making excuses. Your pilot group farming out scope did FAR worse damage to quality-high paying legacy jobs you can retire from, than any new entrant like Virgin America.

To the original posted question:
To anyone considering Alaska:
Its not a bad job by nearly any measure when compared to other JOBS. But, when compared to other flying jobs here’s my two cents, then I’m done on this topic.
Money: Below market rate for our competitors.
Scheduling: Below market for our competitors.
Job protection: Non existent.
Culture between pilots and management: Think mid nineties regional.
Growth: None that will impact your life in a positive way for the next 3-5 years, assuming it comes to fruition.
If simply flying for Alaska has been your goal, for whatever reason,… if that’s your priority and literally nothing else matters…. then come on. But, if you want options, personal and professional, (schedule, equipment, destinations, financial, basing, traveling non-rev etc)…… we are not your place, or at least we’re not your place long term. Literally never been a better time to be in this industry, if you’re qualified, a professional and younger than 50.
