Ya. Interview on the 12 and class is in April.

Flyfast10 02-26-2023 02:48 PM

Did they email both of you about the April start? I received a CJO is January and am still waiting to hear.

You should reach out to the onboarding specialist, I received my class start date from her about 1.5 weeks after receiving the CJO.

Ya, same with me. Background check is what takes the longest. Once that comes back, you’ll get your class date. If you Haven’t heard back yet, I’d email them.

Psaskw 03-07-2023 04:29 PM

Anyone that had an interview 1/31 or beyond hear anything yet?

January is the last set of interview dates I've seen reported. Maybe I missed them, but I haven't seen any reports of February or March interviews in this thread, the Training thread, or the Alaska Air Hiring thread.

Posting my hiring timeline for others as a point of reference.

- Submitted my information to the online background check portal: Day after receiving CJO
- Start date received: About 2 weeks after receiving CJO
- Alaska retrieved my PRD file: About 3 weeks after receiving CJO (I don't see anything in my PRD portal to indicate this, but Alaska said they retrieved it the same day I granted access)
- Cleared background check: About 7 weeks after receiving CJO

Interviewed 2/1. All the background check stuff submitted. No class date. Know a guy who had a December class date and is going to have a long delay before OE. Guess maybe they’re slowing things to try to keep from getting further behind on OE? On interview day they said to expect “late spring” class dates and they’d let me know 3-4 weeks before start date. Wouldn’t be surprised not to hear anything for another month or more.

A friend of a friend has an interview on 3/21, so I know they are actively interviewing. Weekly I believe.

Flyfast10 03-08-2023 06:42 PM

I interviewed mid January. I provided the information for my background check the day after the CJO. Took my background check about 6 weeks to clear. Received my start date after my background check cleared. I am around 3 months from interview to start date.

I heard of another applicant who received a CJO a week after me and has almost the exact timeline I have seen.

do you know when they received the interview invite?

antislamclick 03-09-2023 05:06 PM

Interview 1/5, class date originally 4/17 and has been moved to a sooner date twice. I know of others in the interview group who were initially given late March dates and have since moved as well.

mrfishy 03-09-2023 08:10 PM

There was an interview group today. July is the soonest class date available

Why would anyone wait that long?

Were they offered an actual date or was this an estimation?

Woah. Is that due to training constraints or are they actually living up to that rumor about them making people wait awhile to reduce class attrition?

The inefficiency is a bummer either way. There are a few of us who really want to fly for Alaska over the other airlines, despite Alaska’s many shortcomings. Wish there was a way to make that known. Frustrating to know some people are taking up spots for those of us who really want a career here and will leave right away. Went to a MTC event in January, was recommended for the interview, and I have an internal recommendation, meet all their requirements. Applied at the end of January. Still says under review.

this is the tone of year we historically slow don so the instructors can fly the line.

not sure the reasoning. Seemed like they were a bit backed up, they also mentioned after training there was a 20 day wait for OE. Fwiw I applied after you with no meet the chiefs or internal recs and did the entire process but unfortunately given the tbnt

My historical records say the slow down is usually July and August, not now. That is peak vacation along with peak flights. June has peak flights, as well, but fewer pilots take vacation.

stnkbg1 03-28-2023 10:50 PM

I was in the 3-21 interview, got the CJO. They said to expect late July or August class dates.

Akcfiguy 04-14-2023 04:50 PM

Anyone have a class date in May/June/July? If so, when did you receive your CJO?

Uh oh. That kinda positivity isn't really accepted on APC ;)

It most certainly is. Just because 1/3 of the attrition comes from pilots who said that “Alaska is where they really want to be” does not make positivity unaccepted.

Pretty sure 100% of them said that during the interview…

Not sure why it’s where you’d want to be when all of them are going to offer more

With "them" being the understanding it's the big 4 AA, DL, UA, and SW.

This is different, historically, at VX and AS..... how?

Hitch18 06-11-2023 07:59 AM

Last few posts were talking about timeline from CJO to training start but just curious how long it took people to get their CJOs from application date.

Thanks

Putting out an open offer grab coffee in Anchorage with anyone in the CJO pool, I'm happy to share my experiences to date and answer any questions. Send a PM to coordinate schedules.
