CJO pool

Thought it might be a good thing to start a spot for those of us recent CJO folks. When did you get your CJO? What is your class date? If you have started class fill us in.. My CJO was Dec 2 2022. Still waiting on class date.

Cheers..

How long did it take them to reach out to you after you submitted your application?

Also what’s your total time?

kkerr 01-05-2023 05:17 AM

I applied mid Sept the phone interview was beginning of Nov and in person Dec 2. Hope that helps. TT is 10228

NYpioneer2 01-05-2023 09:49 AM

I applied spring of 2022. Got the call to interview in September after attending a meet the chiefs event. Interviewed at the end of October, and was placed in a March class. I'm hoping it gets moved up, but it sounds like onboarding and training are a bit backed up right now.

Total Time: 2200

GlobalTX17 01-05-2023 12:57 PM

I recieved my CJO in Oct '22 and have a class start date in Feb '23. There were some earlier classes available, but I had to delay due to finishing up my military contract.

Timeline for reference if it helps anyone...
April 22: Applied online. Didn't hear anything for a while.
Sep 22: Chief pilot meet and greet event. Got called the following day to schedule the interview.
Oct 22: In person interview, followed by CJO.

Akcfiguy 01-05-2023 04:38 PM

For those who attended a MTC event, how did it go? What do the chiefs ask?

I’m going to attending my first one here soon and want to know what to expect

It was really laid back. They did about a 30 minute presentation, then we broke off and did a one-on-one discussion with either a chief pilot or recruiter. I was asked to talk through my resume, how I got into aviation, and why I would like to work for Alaska. I was contacted within a week to schedule the in-person.

TimeToGo 01-06-2023 07:28 PM

Any guesses how many classes there will be this year?

widebodywannabe 01-06-2023 11:18 PM

MTC: September 2022, invite to interview the next day.

Interview: Mid October 2022

Class date: November 2022, they had an opening, got lucky

TT: 2100

flywoodson 01-07-2023 10:35 AM

Your TT is 2100 and 2200 PIC Turbine time right?
Or have you sat Left seat at all?

Nice! How is training going? How difficult is the 73 coming from an RJ?

cmrflyer 01-07-2023 08:08 PM

It’s a step backwards. Almost as far back as you can step.

I was a corporate guy. But yes as stated below, it is a big step back automation wise compared to a 175 or a business jet.

Training is going well, it is a longgg footprint..

3 months is correct, give or take. If you’re not local SEA, you get unlimited positive space back & forth during training. Going home on the weekends or for holidays breaks it up a bit at least.

Awesome that’s good to hear. May be relocating to SEA prior to class but it’s my understanding they still provide hotels for initial even if local?

Thats correct, I have a few SEA locals in my class and they were given hotels.

Are all weekends off during training?

How many trips home do you think you could make during training?

Thanks! I'm scheduled for Mid Feb class

During Indoc and ground school yes, all weekend typically off. Once sims start all bets are off though. You will still have your days off in there, but may not be weekends during sims.

You get unlimited positive space travel during training, and most instructors try to get done early on Friday’s, so pretty each to catch a late afternoon flight every Friday, and come back late evening Sunday to be in place for class Monday morning during Indoc/Ground.

You probably don’t want to catch your last available flight back on Sunday in case it cancels for some reason.

Speed Pilot 01-12-2023 06:44 PM

Why not? Fall out of training for a few extra months because we have no sim availability at 85 hours a month is a sweet deal.

If a pos space canx is that your problem or their problem?

pilotr 01-12-2023 09:37 PM

Did anyone who had a screening call in late Nov / early Dec hear back from Alaska? Thanks....

That is a great question… sitting as a line pilot off probation, I would say that it is definitely their problem.

As a new hire on probation… who is selecting flights for themself, I think we are talking about a different situation. Crew Scheduling is going to say “not our fault” because they didn’t schedule it for you in the first place.

At the end of the day my opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it.

ESQ702 01-13-2023 03:59 PM

I’m sure it’s posted around here elsewhere, but can someone lay out AS’ initial hire training footprint, both in terms of how long each segment is (ex: indoc is 3 weeks, sims are 6 weeks, etc) and what breaks, if any, you get in between each training phase?

Thanks in advance.

As a new hire it most certainly has the potential to be the new hire’s problem. You are not required to go home but you are required to show up for training

My phone screen was in December, I interviewed and received my CJO a little under one month later.

Had that happen to me during the big ice storm. Fortunately just jumpseated on the next flight each time it happened.

How long did it take to get the call after MTC? Did they email you to schedule the call or anything like that?

I got emailed the next day to schedule a phone call.

If anyone receives a call after attending the PDX MTC please let us know.

Thank you!

I believe I got a phone call the day after to set up the in person interview. They sent me a link to my email after the call.

Akcfiguy 01-24-2023 05:26 PM

Application status just changed to “under review”. Does anyone know what occurs next? Is this a good sign or?

Next step is them calling you for your phone screening and scheduling your interview.

Flyfast10 01-31-2023 07:14 AM

How long has it been taking for everyone to clear the background check. I have been monitoring mine and they are waiting for my FAA file. I don’t know how long this takes for the FAA to process. Just wondering how long everyone else has taken to get the all clear?
