When I was at ExpressJet we could do base trades and it was a piggy back off the Continental system, which is now in use at United I think. Basically, anyone could initiate a base trade... you say, hey im a SFO CA and I want to trade with an LAX CA. Some LAX CA goes... perfect, I want to be SFO based, and its agreed. Then there is a 30day period where anyone senior to that pilot (in that base) can choose to take their place... basically some senior LAX guy is like... oh wait I want to be SFO based, and he takes that previous LAX spot, and now the 30 day timer restarts... anyone senior to him can now hop on the band wagon. If after 30 days, nobody has taken their spot, then the trade goes through. It honors seniority, and it keeps the base staffing in check. Not sure if that makes vacations a challenge, but it seemed to work fine at ExpressJet, and also works at United... of course, United can pick which meals they want, and we can't figure that one out so... not enough yarn I guess.

Vacation would need to be negotiated, if not you'd lose what you had and get leftovers.

I think it depends more on Boeing than on the merger. I'm not sure they can achieve merger sufficient synergies soon enough to avoid hiring to staff near-term planned (hoped for) max deliveries.

And yes it could absolutely still happen, I would say a lot less likely now… but we are still fat. Union is wisely trying to preserve every CA position for now pending SLI.
Now for the real reason I got on here: Was just told DOJ has indicted they are not going to block the AS HA merger… 👍👍👍 pretty awesome!

When did I ever say that? Why do you think the union worked out reduced lines? I said 30, management said 100… it’s always the same crap here. I tell people what is happening, what’s on the radar and this is what I get in return.
