Hawaiian is a very small Company in the grand scheme of things. You don't lose hundreds of millions year after year, incur $900 million in debt, have no replacement for an aging fleet (717), face a behemoth in SWA interisland, be at the whims of a very disfunctioning HI DOT that runs the worst airports in the Country (by far), face a ridiculuous headwind from 25% of your business (Japan economy, Covid travel fear, inflationary effect on the YEN), and come out the other side unscathed.

P.I. has said "all is well,, we're right on track", over and over. That is easy to say when you keep moving the goal post in the wrong direction.

They won't say it per SEC type rules, but we're f$$ked without a buyer.

Thank god their 2 electoral votes come hours and hours later than the rest and literally don't matter ever. (one of the highest, if not the highest rates of gov't cheese recipients in the Country)

The only good politician to come out of HI flipped after her term was up, (resigned). She knew she had no chance unless she pretended to be one of them. Mazie is an utter joke. Typically mocked for the stupid nonsense that comes out of her mouth.

And yet you chose to live and work here.

So you expect the admin to oppose this merger? Throwing the hometown eponymous airline to the LUVing mercy of the wolves? In a deep-blue state with deep cultural roots?

Despite AS's stated intent to preserve the brand, jobs, etc? Diamterically opposite what B6 said they were going to do to NK?

What's your logic then? Non-rhetorical question.

2:1 it gets approved. If it doesn’t and there is fall out, the local government won’t do or say much, so NOW is the time for them to say something. Alaska backed “local” airline is welcomed by all. Including the local flying public.

Also it’s not like a 10 or 20 year airline is calling it quits. A nearly century old airline can’t reinvent itself any longer after trying a bunch of thing from connecting near and far in big and small aircraft, flying military contracts, cargo ventures (new and old). Not to mention after outlasting EVERY other local carrier. Even a merger Mokulele/Makani Kai got bought by Southern (Part 135 Caravan ops), a mainland corp.

So I’d hope that with everybody huddled from previous defunct local carriers under HAL, there’d be some local governmental awareness on what the fudge is at stake.

4 electoral votes...2 senators, 2 representatives.

I never said that it had anything to do with electoral count.

Assuming the HI dems favor the merger, that should carry weight just because.

If the locals want the merger (they should, it's a lifeline), what motive would biden have to just go ahead and screw HAL anyway? Other than "big business bad"?

Id heard through the grapevine that once again our CQ this year will involve SE Alaska scenarios and that there is a push to expand SE Alaska qualified flying to all bases instead of it being limited to basically SEA/ANC. Now we know at least one of the reasons why.

So with that in mind, for SEA/ANC guys, since PBS is on the way, are there dedicated cargo pairings, or are they just interspersed within various pairings? I didn’t look to see if there was a “cargo” selection in the “Avoid Pairings” side.
