AK is an OCONUS State, and the code for an Asian airline.
AS is the IATA airline code for Alaskan Air. |

Yep. Hence the repeated message of keeping things separate for a while. Integration, particularly fleet integration, will take a long time considering Boeings molasses delivery schedule.
Good luck HA, In Unity... |

I also predict the eventual end of the brand down the road. Also a pretty drastic change in the standard way Hawaii routes and planes are utilized. IE: widebodies placed in SeaTAc. 321's eventually shelved. If there is anything I've learned in a couple decades of doing this stuff, CEO's talk out of both sides of their mouths. |

Just as long as "if" AS does end the HA brand you are willing to admit he was correct.

The only way the HA brand goes away is if we adopt a brand new, combined brand. We already have a hard enough time convincing people on the East Coast that if they buy a ticket on Alaska Airlines they don't have to go through Anchorage. Yes the current branding works for the current model, but any kind of expansion outside of the PNW will require new branding to be successful.
I don't think BM and ST are so in love with the current brand that they'd give up much more than a nickel to keep it. Unlike folks in the past, BT, etc. If they want to be a national/global airline they're going to have to adjust the branding eventually. Maybe keep the Eskimo on one side of the tail and the hula girl on the other. |
