They've been doing this for some time. For the last 2 years they've said "we're right on track!" As we lose hundreds of millions and ultimately need to be bought. If this was being "right on track", I'd hate to see what it looks like to be "off track". Thank god AK stepped in, hopefully the DOJ (Maybe even the guy who was hired illegally) will let this go through in 3 weeks without a word. Just remember, adding one route, to Salt Lake City, is a big win for this team. The bar is pretty low. I'd guess a bit of right sizing the fleet. Maybe from a little push from AK? |

330s are gone. Management has trouble handling the 737 training department already and will switch to a 2 fleet 787 and 737 in no time. On a personal note, I would rather take the dreamliner over an old 330 but who cares what I think. Sadly, lot of old timers here who are counting down on retirement won't even get a chance to fly the 78 and lot of other folks like me are comfortable where we are at. A 2 year seat lock and being on reserve or a **** line on the 78 is something many of us do NOT want. I suspect a lot of new hires will not have fun being on reserve forever with a WB. Time will tell.

VAX glad to see your still walking the truth! I guess no changes at HA since I left? Hopefully, AS will terminate all pilot managers who continue to blow money knowing HA is in the worst shape in history. I'm still in shock that the same pilot managers are around after all the money they are burning, complete incompetence! It will take YEARS to get enough airplanes to replace the 330s and 717s and that's not even accounting for any growth. I don't see any aircraft going away for at least 3 years. At that point they may start talking about a 717 replacement, but as someone said those aircraft are mostly paid for so I don't see it happening until it becomes economically beneficial.

Exactly, none of the aircraft are going anywhere anytime soon. If it is going to truly be an all Boeing fleet it’ll be the better part of a decade before ALK can get enough aircraft for replacements.
