I just hope I’m still a line holder next year. My seniority in base gets worse every month. By next year I’ll be back on reserve if the current trend continues.

I'm just curious why they'd put out the bid in the first place if there's so much uncertainty about the future?

And they did so even in the midst of the Delta variant wild fire..

Reserve here is atrocious, but I’m more concerned about having a job here by next year . If things really go south again I can’t see airline bailouts coming again.

The delta variant is no joke. However, we're only months away from under age 12 vaccine approval. Also, the corporate arm twist campaign will help bring us closer to fully vaccinated nationwide. Of further consideration is Alaska's primary customer demographic: upper middle class PNW residents. Those people weren't hurt so much by the covid economy. These aren't spirit pax using their stimmy check to take the family to Orlando. This might shape up to be a great holiday travel season for alaska airlines.

They'll know the effects of the Delta variant far from when all this training begins. I expect them to cancel the bid if things keep going on current trajectory.

And then there are guys who think this growth bid is to detract from stalled negotiations. Some can just ignore we're in a stalled pandemic. Both SWA and Frontier have said forward looking bookings have come down. We're not out of the woods yet and if things go south, there won't be any more PSP style bailouts.

but the vaccine doesnt prevent you from getting or transmitting the delta variant. It does prevent serious illness but if we strictly go by the new cases etc itll be March 2020 all over again. Begin to be afraid!

All because people wouldn’t take the shots for a myriad of false, disproven myths. Can’t wait for the vaccine to be mandated by airlines. All employers across the country should mandate it. It’s the only way out without crowding hospitals to the point people are being turned away because there are no beds. I double dog dare anyone senior to me to resign out of protest for a vaccine mandate.
