Well they did only have the window open for a short time over a major holiday... I was wondering if they did that on purpose to get applicants that are motivated and want to stay at Alaska. The longer they wait to offer interviews the more of their top tier applicants will already have class dates at other airlines. From my layman's perspective it seems like the hiring team is not thinking things through.

And also, who sends multiple emails with no updates to applicants hoping for an interview? Are they trying to irritate applicants or are they just that detached? I would love to work for Alaska but going through this would have me second guessing them if I had another offer on the table from another airline, or air line at that.

You’re not wrong. Pay attention to the red flags!

Alaska makes money for their investors, but is run in many ways like a regional airline, this may be some of what you are seeing. Having said that and acknowledging that there is a bid with a number of upgrades out right now, my guess is that Alaska is slow playing these interview calls while watching what their future bookings look like in regards to covid. If they drop off as some other carriers claim they have I’d expect the bid will cancel and there will be no need for new hires, if not then likely the interview calls will probably pick up.

I have apps in at UAL DAL and SWA for probably a decade now and never heard a peep, same with Alaska while I was applying. I would have been way happier hearing something rather than the nothing I’ve had and will continue to get.

As a general rule, when it comes to Alaska management, you should never be tempted to attribute to shrewd foresight or careful planning what can instead be explained be sheer incompetence and exclusively reactive decision making.

Their email system has always been comical. I had completed training and working the line for about half a year and then received an email that my application was under review.

Question for ya trading experts.

I have 77 hrs and want to add a 3-day trip that is 15 hrs. It denies it because credit 92 hrs is greater than credit cap of 91:30

I've heard you can take a trip on your schedule and let someone borrow it? And then add the trip from opentime, and then take back your trip from the pilot?

How does one go about doing that? Do you select "Direct Trade" and enter the crewmember ID? When they get that trip, it doesn't count against their credit cap, correct?

And another silly question, why not just give your trip to another pilot, and then just take the trip right back? Would that work? To get around credit caps? Eg, just give my 2-day trip worth 10 hrs to a pilot, and then take it back from that pilot. Would 10 hrs now be pay-only and not count towards my scheduling credit caps?

Thank you!

you got it! Directly swap your trip to someone and swap it right back will work, that will ‘unlock’ the 92 hrs credit cap.
and for your second question, haven’t tried before because usually got schedule conflicts with another pilot.
blew my mind when I first learn we have to play this stupid steps. Oh well

Anyone get any phone calls or emails from this last round? I've also received the 3 canned emails that they are reviewing.
