Junior bases

Hey not sure if this already is in a thread but currently how long does it take to hold FLL as a first officer out of training? Thanks

You can get it awarded right away in training

Moving target. It could be offered to a new hire today and then take 9 months to get for someone in the next class. All just depends on where the fos are quitting from and how many senior to you in your class and the class before yours want the same base so it is incredibly difficult to answer this. We are not growing nor is movement here at all predictable.

right now it seems like lax is the “junior base.” But once we reach April or May that may change.

So again, no one (especially not a recruiter) can answer this. Past performance does not indicate future results.do not come here unless you can stomach commuting with minimal time at home for at least 6 months or are willing to relocate. If you have a spouse that is able to commute with you (eg remote worker) some people have had a great time.

Is LAS still obtainable for new hires out of training?

The previous post answered that pretty well. Unfortunately the answer is no one knows.

If you go with the most junior base, whatever that might be, is reserve a matter of months or years? I’ve heard that some bases such as IWA can possibly be attained in the first year of working at Allegiant, but expect to have a long reserve time.

FO’s in a newly opened base were and continue to be senior lineholders on day 1 out of training

meanwhile a line holding captain in the same base would be a reserve fo (bottom 80%) in IWA.

holding a base out of training is a roulette wheel game of the preferences of a few people above you. Once you get to that base, there is a seniority ceiling that is directly proportional to the age of the base. The longer the base is open, the more people have bought homes and settled there.

if you’re not already tied to a particular base, your best strategy is to grab the most junior base out of training, keep it temporary and rent for a couple years, wait until a new base opens where you can hold captain at an acceptable seniority level for you. I.E. if you’re okay being a reserve captain long-term, you could get an upgrade in a new base at 2 years, sometimes less, but reserve captain will be your ceiling. If you want to be a line holder best to put it off for another couple years, or just repeat the temporary plan and be willing to move again.

if you’re willing to move to new bases, your qol here can be pretty great. Most people who hate it here choose a senior base that has no more room to grow and then become increasingly ****ed off as they slowly realize nothing is changing anytime soon.

FLL has been interesting to watch. Just recently is started going very junior for FOs.

Has been pretty junior lately for FO’s, but just in case some prospective new hire needs to hear it…You’ll still be a forever FO in the base. The top of the pyramid is built and isn’t moving anytime soon.

I think by now most people who read these forums know you can really only be a career FO in Florida. Captain opportunities are going to be in small bases that haven’t been announced yet.
