AA Internal Recs

Greetings,

How does the internal rec process work at AA? Do the employees just walk a letter of rec to the CP or do you attach it to the online application?

Thanks.

The person writing the recommendation attaches it to your app. You need to provide the rec writer the email you used to apply.

I'm assuming the recommendation attached to Pilot Credentials only helps after you get the invite?

That used to be the case, but they've sent out a few emails saying that LOR's were part of the selection process. With that said, I'd bet that they are just saying that to placate the pilots, and that they don't look at them until late in the process, pure guess though...

I doubt you are that far off actually. I have a friend who had 8 letters of rec, all from LAA pilots (6 CA's (2 of whom were check airmen) and 2 FO (one senior one junior).....that was 2 years ago

He's loving his job at Delta.....AA still hasn't called.....😒

Anyone know how long it takes for an internal recommendation to show up on your Pilot Credentials portal? My LOR was apparently submitted by an AA FO a couple of days ago. It says that all letters are reviewed before being approved, anyone have a timeline on this?

It should show up right away, I always have guys check that right away and let me know if not. It’s pretty easy to dork it up on our side and not really submit it. Tell him to look at it.

So, does proof the recommendation being submitted just show up at the bottom of the references page? For example, I am showing name, email and date submitted of person who made the internal recommendation.
There are no attachments or links to the actual recommendation itself.

Anyone have any info on how becoming a DPE might help your application? I’m shooting for 1,000 hours of PIC, bachelors degree (AS Degree in Aviation too if that matters), check airman, but would becoming a DPE help you stand out against other applicants? Don’t have an LOR, but working on networking at the moment so fingers crossed for that. Just don’t want to rely on the flow, but I know chances are bleak getting hired as a OTS hire.
