American Video Interview

I know this is a long shot and I hate airing out dirty laundry, but I was curious if anyone is in or associated with Pilot Recruitment? Or if anyone just has a real good idea of how things work?
The short version is I got the invite for the video interview on Thursday, April 27. I completed it and submitted it on the following Saturday. On Tuesday this last week, I got the TBNT. I felt great about the my submission and just knew I was going to get called in for an interview. It stung a bit when that didn't happen.
Ultimately I'm a low time guy. I have 1600 King Air hours and 2000 rotary wing.
Is the video invite generated by a computer or some algorithm and I just happen to do enough to ping it, and then when my app was reviewed at HR (or by whoever) it was noticed that I'm a low time guy with no jet time or 121/135 experience, which is why I got the TBNT? Or did I just bomb the video which is why I wasn't invited?
Please, be brutally honest.
Thanks.

I'm not involved in hiring but I highly doubt they would waste your time and theirs with the video interview if they didn't think you were qualified.
Sorry for the TBNT. Hope you get another chance.

I appreciate the response.
I previously read somewhere that although it did happen, the fail rate for the video interview was pretty low. I'm currently in Afghanistan doing some contract work and we've been having issues with our internet.
Now I'm really curious if I just bombed the video or if I submitted a blank/scratchy video because of the internet issues.
I can't stand the idea that there's no feedback.

What is your available date? if you're outside of two months, that might have been it. There is an algorithm for selection, so it did pick you up. Keep updating amd don't give up. Is your time time in the FLKA (Funny Looking King Air) as PIC?

For someone like American, I'm ready today!! And I have the "I'm currently available" bullet checked on my app.
Pretty much all my time is in a FLKA of one variant or another. As for my time, it's pretty evenly split down the middle, PIC/SIC.

I do.
ATP, BE300, 4 yr degree, just retired from the Army earlier this year, prior safety officer. Never an IP or CFI, no other types.
The only thing I can think of that even triggered the video invite is that I update my app every week with whatever hours I flew that week. I've reviewed it and reviewed it, had friends review it.
I am absolutely not giving up. I just updated my app again today with last week's hours. I'll do it again next week and continue doing so.
I truly appreciate the support and information. Thanks.

Unfortunately, the way it has always been described to me is that once you get the video interview, the job is yours to lose. The video interview is to make sure that you can compose yourself, and speak intelligibly. The face-to-face interview is to make sure that you can do that in person in a little more of a fluid environment. While the request for invite is surely based in some sort of algorithm, I doubt that a stat that would get flagged after the video interview.
From talking to folks with a bit of experience, the general disqualifier for the video is poor presentation, whether that's of yourself (your dress and background) or your answers (possibly the content, but most likely your speech). A specific example I was told that reminds me a but of your situation was a deployed military member who did the video in an ABU/DCU undershirt. While it's obvious you're not going to have a suit in a deployed situation, the better option for this individual would have been to simply be in uniform. The backdrop to the video has also been option; the wall of a tent is no issue, but if it's plastered with pictures - maybe not so much.
The best advice has already been given - keep your stats updated and wait for the next shot. You've already seen the process, so you should be able to crush it next time.

Clint,
Thank you for the response. I've heard the same thing about the yours to lose part. I sent an email to both the recruiting department and the creators of the iPad app inquiring about the quality of the video submitted because of the previous mentioned internet issues.
I already heard back from the app creator. My video was clear.
Like I said before, I felt great about my answers and the submission. However, I wasn't wearing a suit and I was in our Safety Office which wasn't exactly a bland background. Maybe I'll get lucky and the recruiting team will take into consideration my location and reconsider. Here's to hoping anyways.
