Not doubting your source, but I've heard no classes from multiple people in the training department. Now, there's a chance that they're getting misinformation from their sources but I find that hard to believe. Regardless, I hope you're source is the correct one.

I have heard nothing.

But one reason to slow down on hiring could be that they are going to 'right size' bases.

We obviously have way more bases on the east coast than we need. And they haven't really moved metal around yet-post merger.

I don't know current lengths, but they can be withheld up to 12 months for non lateral moves.

How about 737 to bus or bus to 737? Not 12 months?

Non lateral means moving to different equipment or position (FO to CA), so 12 months applies.

So quickest route to a seat at AA is to join a guard unit then apply, got it.

You sound triggered.

Your other option, though not as quick, is to join an AA WO regional. This way you could avoid the military commitment.

haha no just messing around. I already did my time at the regionals but left a few years back to pursue a 91 gig to get some turbine PIC time and can't really afford the pay cut to go back. There is a rather large community of charter and corporate pilots in my position so we keep checking boxes (taking assistant chief pilot, chief pilot, director of safety, company check airmen poisitons) in hopes that it makes us more marketable to the Legacy carriers.

Sounds like you're on the right track. I know it seems rare that AA hires civilian OTS folks but it does happen. In fact, there was a corporate guy in my interview group that was hired. Keep updating the app at least weekly (I did it daily...just log in and hit save). Maybe get an app review (recommend Checked and Set) if you haven't already.

Good luck!
