AA 777 Captain arrested for assault

Second, it's not a foreign government's word, it is the word of another person (alleged victim).
I'm not presuming his guilt or innocence, but I will say that the situation sounds bad for him. Getting arrested in a foreign country is never a good thing, obviously.

Exactly. And because getting arrested in a foreign country is never a good thing, all the more reason to at least be back in the USA as it gets sorted out. In my eyes he’s innocent until proven guilty. We don’t have enough facts to pass judgement just yet. Furthermore, I’ve lived in and visited enough foreign countries to know that they capitalize on any chance they have in ridiculing/harassing Americans even if they’re in the wrong.
If you were in his shoes I guarantee you’d be dang happy to be back too.

How would you feel if a foreign pilot assaulted a ground handler in JFK and after two days was back in his country of origin without an snowballs chance in hell he’d be back for court?
Scared of foreign judicial systems?
Like we’ve never put an innocent person in jail......after being ‘proven’ guilty in a jury trial of their peers no less.
Now it’s possible that “simple assault” or whatever the legal terminology in Brazil carries a fine which was paid.
Or the alleged “victim” paid off or whatever.
In any case he’s never going back there.
And if I were in his shoes I would have behaved.

And I wouldn't be in his shoes because I know better than to allegedly choke out a female gate agent over a petty dispute.

And you KNOW he actually did this. You KNOW that someone wouldn’t accuse you of doing something you didn’t do.
Ok, then.

^^^ exactly. All I’m saying is... don’t be quick to throw this guy under the bus until you have all the details of what really happened. I’ve seen and heard too much. Just talk to the US Embraer pilots who had the midair. The lengths the Brazilians are going to in order to pin it on our guys has been absolutely chilling. It’s still not over for them.
Not saying our captain is not at fault here. We don’t know yet. Just cautioning to not jump to conclusions and throw him under without knowing all the details.

But this won’t get through to Ceelo or Tiredsoul, they are sensitive progressive pilots. Tiredsoul hates “old white men”.
