Default Section 6 Split Pay by Aircraft Type Again?

Did anyone notice that one of the goals of section 6 is to do away with group pay and go back to pay by aircraft type? I’m not sure if we want to do this. Go take a look at Deltas pay table. They have serval categories that have hourly rates that are less than ours. If we did things the way Delta does it, 787 and 330 Capt would pay about $14/hr less than 777. A320 would pay less than 737. One thing that we have better than Delta is we have a a lot more pilots being paid top scale. Do we really want to make 777 be the top of our scale and have 787 and 330 pay less? Do we want all of the premium trips to Asia on the 787 paying less money than 777? Does anyone know what the negotiating committee is trying to accomplish here?

They talked about this on the telephone town hall. I think you’ll find the answer to your doubts on the NC website starting tomorrow with the archived town halls.

This was a pre BK item in the LAA, and it is considered industry standard among 121 pax haulers.

GROUP RATES HELP THE COMPANY. We are in section 6 now. That’s all I’m going to say and all that needs to be said.

You say it helps the company, and it probably does in terms of training churn, however you can’t argue that Deltas hourly rates for 787 and 330 are significantly below 777. They only have around 20 777’s. We have way more premium wide body positions.

We should focus our attention elsewhere. We have so many other parts of the contract where we are far behind our peers. I'm not convinced this is something we want. 787-8 and 319 are being pulled up by group rates. 321 is being dragged down, but I think with the number of 787's we have ordered we are better off keeping them at the same pay as the 777.

All comes from the same pie. How they want to slice it up is up to the negotiating committee, and I’m sure they have their reasons.

We definitely need to fix the pay in regards to the 321s and bigger 737s.

In terms of routes, range, and capacity, those are our future 757s

I don't remember whether the 321 and/or the bigger 73 with regards to pay were mentioned in the surveys couple of weeks ago. This definitely needs to be addressed.

Where did anyone say that our rates would match Delta's? Maybe a better way of looking at it as that you won't fly a 787 or a 319 at a loss, but rather you'll get a bonus for a 777 or a 321. I get the sense that the NC knows what they're doing. And I also think that if you disagree, maybe better to contact them directly rather than air it out here...

I mean that politely. I just don’t see any advantage to negotiating in public.

787 pay will not go down, but 777 will go up. Personally I don't mind either way.
