I hope it doesn’t. But you cannot do it for “no reason,” you have to be on legitimate military duty. Granted AA doesn’t make you produce proof (ie orders), but that doesn’t mean folks are allowed to do it for “no reason.” Integrity matters.

No worries - really. I have thought of the most amazing ways to gain the system; most of us evil geniuses have! a few things stop me from doing this at AA:

- What do I tell my CP when I’m called out - or worse - in a sec 21 hearing?
- How do I explain my new job to my buddies at the squadron
- Oh ****** I’m not cut out for this ‘real job’ I now have!!!
- MUCH Worse - what do I tell my wife when I now have to get said real job?!?

I have the benefit of having an AA heavy squadron - and we bounce some really nefarious/glorious and all together idiotic things off each other (this saves us from putting extraordinarily horrible ideas on a semi anonymous forum).

But really it is just this simple - and one of our most revered retirees said it best - “dude, this is your forever job - why are you trying to eff it up?!?”

Put all that wonderful nefarious energy into being effing ‘God level’ at your contract knowledge. It’s just as satisfying seeing the extra money (or well earned time at home NOT doing Mil) on the company’s incompetence!

Cheers mate

1. In my opinion, our company is the best with regards to mil leave, they have never once asked for orders or anything, decs usually shows my days off request within an hour of the email.

2. This is why the civilian dudes think we’re dirty.

3. Unless things have changed, decs will not let you pick up a trip in he footprint of the trip that mil leave was used to drop, maybe they fixed that, haven’t tried in a while.

4. This is a multi million dollar career, don’t be so cavalier with the rules, you’re probably new, you’ll learn.

As a fellow mil pilot, don’t do this crap. No one really cares if you use mil leave to your slight advantage.... you SHOULD. it’s a massive PITA working 2 flying jobs... it shouldn’t be expected of us to do guard/reserve stuff on our days off then fly a crappy 4 day. That said, doing what you suggest is pretty over the line in my opinion, and people who pull that stuff will end up ruining it for everyone.

with all due respect, why should it not be expected that you do both jobs? you applied for, interviewed for, and accepted a job knowing the time commitment of military aviation. while I have great admiration for all those in our military that keep us safe, why should you be able to use USERRA for personal gain?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. What’s the issue with non military folks getting drops followed by regular or out of base make up
