My list shows 6,260 retirements in the next 7 years....1/1/20-12/31/26 and that is just mandatory ones. 782, 853, 874, 960, 932, 956, 903 and then it drops off slightly to the 700s and 600s for the next few years.
The kind of movement we just saw on this past bid is just the start of a whole lot of movement. |

Tryin to understand why it seems a lot of people dislike reserve whilst living in base. Is it not a good deal? I’m new here, but other than wondering if ur phone is going to ring, isn’t it “usually” a really good deal?

is that true? I’m trying to figure the math on that one. Say someone was hired at 25 years old. They would need 11,000-12,000 pilots to retire in 9 years to be the bottom group IV captain at 34 years old. In 9 years we are projecting 6-7,000 retirements correct? 34 seems like a stretch, 40 years old seems very likely.

This just tells me that all our contracts are so bad that most of the list is unwilling to accept being junior, more so in the domestic system. But it's great for junior guys to be able to make some coin...if you're schedule is going to suck either way, might as well make the cash!

Can you share this list? It seems to be different than the one that was posted on this site about 3 years ago. I have been looking for an updated one.

according to the retirement calculator, I’ll be able to hold 777/787 CA at 45yo. So someone hired in their mid 20s will definitely get there before their 40th. Long before. This all assumes no retirement age increase/mergers and so on.
