It's hard to know. I used to fly with guys all the time that said stuff that'd make me think they'd jump all over this:
"I'm just sticking with it for the medical bennies."
"Yeah I'm senior enough for the 777, but no way am I going through another initial."
"At my age it's all about working as little as possible."
I guess we'll find out Friday whether any of it is true.

“This would be a top-shelf analogy if shaking hands with someone who had been in a car accident meant that you would also get into a car accident.”
Also, everything is getting cancelled not because they think we’ll all die, but because if everyone gets sick at once the hospitals will very quickly run out of capacity. See Italy. While you’re at it, get a grip on yourself and think things through before just dumping it all out man. Do you just push buttons at a whim in the cockpit?

as far as your number, I am inclined to agree with you. I think about 150-180 will take it. I’d be somewhat shocked to get a number above 250. My .02

Are you AA, when were you hired? The AA list has a wide range of pilots that have been affected by career timing including those retiring at age 65. Yes, the "Golden Children" of 1984-85 have done well. After that, the curve drops including those LAA 2001 hires that were around age 40. The Group II LOA's offered are 50% of the total. If you're AA, it shouldn't take long to figure out how many in that group are 60+ and have a wrecked retirement and QWL, and long upgrades.
We're all taking it in the shorts, some obviously worse than others.

I am still hopeful alot of people will take it. But too many will look at is as losing 30hrs of pay a month or more (not factoring in sick time), rather than looking at it as getting 50hrs for doing NOTHING...what freaking industry can say that?! Go and tell 10, hell 20 people at your local grocery store that you can get over $150,000(doesnt even include 401k 16%) with benefits for the next year(63yr olds) for doing absolutely nothing but sitting on your a$$ and see what the say, after their jaw closes! The sick bank payout really makes it a no brainer if you have a lot. I hope APA is doing the math for these guys and expressing what a great deal this is...but everyones sitch is different, so who knows...I say 400 take it.
