Quote: Latest rumor is that Alaska will be buying AA..all American pilots will be spun off into their new wholly owned regional dubbed "Klondike".. operating a mixed fleet of Twin Otters and Jetstreams. That doesn't include the 7,000 who will be indefinitely furloughed.

Source: friend of a friend who saw it in a text.

If they serve Klondike bars on flights, definitely going to JS.

Quote: You guys want a good laugh? Go check out the Alaska forum. Apparently AA is crawling to AS and begging them to save us. Also, AA will emerge 250+ aircraft smaller permanently, and some how AS will be doing that flying going forward. (Yes, this is really being discussed over there).
Oh wow! One whole post!!!! Most at AK want nothing to do with American. Don't be ridiculous....

Don’t worry, no legacy pilot wants anything to do with merging with another carrier, unless we’re gonna liquidate, then bring that ugly *** Eskimo over here.

To sum it up: He texted someone supposedly in management, at the ping pong palace, that said a MOAB is being planned and that the bottom 5000 pilots are gone OCT 1.

Ironically, he’s a little more than 5000 from the bottom. I see he didn’t try that same stunt on AArena or The Line forums since I’m sure that’s where he actually got his info from.

Wow, I’m a pessimistic dirtbag and even I don’t think it will be that bad.

Why merge when they can take over in BK like Parker did. AAG has already retained the same firm as last time they went through BK. My projection for what will likely happen is:

October a bunch of furloughs;

November another BK;

In between will be lots of "good faith" concessionary negotiations with all labor groups to keep everybody thinking there isn't going to be a BK.... this lets the company secure lower labor costs before bankruptcy. Many will vote for the concessions to "save the company" and the jobs;

Post bankruptcy filing, they will 1113 and force a second round of concessions on several but not all employee groups.

Pretty much the exact same entry playbook as last time, with the addition of furloughs to stem the bleeding.
