Still haven’t topped a coworker who used to take all the hotel soaps home and built a press to mold them into a single bar of soap.

I bring my own soap due to sensitive skin but I do keep all the tiny pieces and mold them into a bar. I also find hotel towels to be well priced. I never buy ketchup just make a weekly trip to McDonalds. Split my two ply toilet paper into one to double the roll. Pay my bills online and use the free envelopes they send for other mail. Get my sunglasses from the lost and found (just ask for black ones). Donate my clothes to Goodwill and then buy them back for less than the deduction. And last but not least break up with girlfriends right before any occasion requiring a gift.:D
You know, just regular pilot savings measures. That wasn't so much out of cheapness but I just wanted to see if it could be done. I bought soap for the first time in 15 years last month. I do "donate" a bunch of it though. I had no idea how cheap it was. Good tip on the Goodwill scam. :D |

Funny you mentioned mail, I once sent a letter to my folks by putting their name as the mailer and mine as the addressee...and did not put a stamp on it. It went to the other side of the country.

There was a MIA Captain at Eagle, that used to bring his burned out light bulbs from home and switch them out in his overnight hotel room. He is probably the type to bust out a few gallon zip lock bags and fill up with the freebies at the hotel breakfast bar. If the hotel didn't offer free breakfast, No matter how good the hotel was he would probably make up something to complain about so that he could get the free breakfast. There was a Doubletree hotel in RDU that would hide the cookie platter when Eagle crews walked in because this guy overnighted there a lot and would swipe all their cookies.

Brilliant. Do most hotels have LED bulbs these days I don't care for incandescent due to energy expense and CFL due to lack of light and start up time. Going to add this to my play book.:)
this also falls into moral character which is a fireable offense |
