A CA I know here took over a plane I brought in recently and said AA wouldn’t care about a CJO from anything other than another Legacy. Doesn’t make much sense but whatever.

I imagine they are correct. AA knows that you won’t stop updating your resume if you go to Allegiant. Go to Delta and they might never see you again. Maybe tough to hear, but it’s the truth. Good luck, keep updating your app.

It’s Not Allegiant if that matters. But a guy from my new hire class claims it worked for someone he knows. Can’t confirm. But either way you are still leaving the regional and therefore not helping AA anymore. And if they plan on hiring me shortly afterward why not now?

I think he's talking about Frontier because 4 of allegiant's most senior bases are in Florida.

Also I think this threaten 'em with a competing CJO thing is funny. The sense of entitlement in the younger generation astounds me. It's like Milton in Office Space. "I could take my American Express Traveler's cheques to a competing resort. I could put strychnine in the guacamole. I could set the building on fire". It'd be pretty funny if American's response to his CJO threat is to fire him from PSA which would also get his CJO canceled. Then he'll get his job back in 9 months and play a country song backwards but be a PSA lifer.

Boomer alert,,,lol I’m actually in my late 30’s so I’m not super young either. And the whole send AA a CJO has been working for many so why not try? And I never heard of PSA people being fired from AA. It’s too separate companies and not sure if PSA or any regional can afford to start firing people over something like this. Plus my two weeks are already in so good luck.

Boomer? That's all you've got? Plus I'm in my 50s so that makes me an early X-er not a Boomer.

I'm sure your new employer will be able to easily figure out who you are from this and your previous posts. I'm sure they'll be totally cool with you trying to leverage their CJO for a job at AA. So good luck.

Some of the stuff people post on the internet for everyone in the world to see blows me away.

I think you're pretty clueless this threat as you put it has worked for many people now. Leveraging a job offer from somewhere else for a job offer somewhere you would prefer to be is not a threat. But also if it works who cares. Good for them doing something to improve their position.

Did they all post about doing it on APC with more than enough previous posts to easily identify themselves? Lol.

Not a threat. I have no dog in the fight. I'm just an old "boomer" trying to help the kids out by suggesting you don't live your life on the internet cause guys like me are still running stuff and don't think its as cool as you do. That's all. Take it or leave it.

Keeping a low profile online is important. I agree with that. But leveraging anything you can to get the job you want is fair and reasonable.

Leveraging one job for another is smart. It’s something that happens in most other industries. Airlines could give a fudge… if anything, it shows AA you have tenacity and a desire to stay once you arrive. Hell… The other airline might even appreciate not wasting money training you… This market has most pilots holding multiple offers. No airline can afford word getting out that they are being vindictive or butthurt

I’m a Gen Xr also. I see nothing wrong with this tactic. In todays market the prospective employee has the power, they should use it while they can. When the tables turn the Airlines will ratchet up their “competitive” requirements or stop hiring altogether.
