I’ve got an October 2023 availability date. How far out from availability are they looking to interview? I know they are sitting on a ton of apps right now and I’m sure it’s a lot to go through. My apps been in for a couple months now. Trying not to over think it and be patient, but want to make sure its not me.

I’m retiring from USAF, no red flags (that I know of..), some nice recommendations, and meet all the requirements.
Anybody have a similar experience?

Thanks again to all.

If you haven’t attended any events (Meet the Chiefs, NGPA, WIA, RTAG, etc) then you need to attend one. You get to speak with a current pilot and then with an HR rep who will also review your app and suggest corrections or anything else you may need to stand out. It will get you on their radar. HR literally said this.

I was selected at NGPA last month for interview and received an on the spot CJO after attending only one MTC’s event in January. A military guy I interviewed with also received a CJO there and his availability wasn’t until next year. So it looks like it doesn’t matter what your availability is.

TPNX is the next event in Orlando April 21 & 22nd. You should try to attend and set up a meet with American.

Thanks for the advice. I just signed up for TPNX and requested a slot with the AA team. I bought tickets for Friday only, would you recommend being available both days?

Probably just the one day is fine but be prepared as you could possible be called for an on the spot interview that day or the next.

At NGPA, I only scheduled to attend the first day but later that afternoon I got the call for an interview the next morning. I heard another pilot had already flown back to LA and got the same call. He turned around and headed back. No way to know if you will get the call though, so be flexible.

How long after replying to the HR Zoom interview email did you get scheduled for one?

I was wondering the same :D I replied two days ago and still waiting. So far they’ve been on top of everything so I’m sure they’ll send the invitation anytime now.

I submitted June 2022 and didn't hear anything till March 2023. Available May 2023. Also retiring mil. Did not attend any events. I had stopped updating my app assuming I failed their AON assessment and they cold called me.

You don't HAVE TO attend any events, especially with military background and internal recs. Events won't hurt and might get you an interview sooner. Either way, update your app, publish your app (ASAP if it's not published already) and you will get the call/email even with an October availability (my mil buddy has a summer availability and already interviewed/CJOed several months ago). Good luck!

So the interview date is closing fast and I’ve gotten my non-rev travel from AA, but still haven’t seen any hotel yet. I just want to confirm that interviewees do in fact get a paid hotel, otherwise I’ll need to hop on some site and get a room asap

Yes you get a hotel. Reach out to your recruiter and ask. Mine popped up a couple days prior
