One correction of my own. The pilots aren’t the only union as the dispatchers are also unionized. Unfortunately it won’t let me edit the bolding in my previous post to reflect this.

I know this is a sweeping generalization and all… But I’ve been a commuter my whole airline career. I regularly Jumpseat on AA flights and have only run into 2 odd balls out of hundreds if not thousands of flights. I’ve jumped on Delta a couple dozen times and I’ve had either odd or downright awful experiences 5 or 6 of those. Most seem to be centered around the 75/76 fleet. All the times I’ve been on the jump of the 717, 73, or old Mad dogs it was a good experience. So I dunno, Delta sure seems to have some odd balls in proportion to other carriers.

lots of guys like that at AA. Thankfully most are 63+ years old. You should have seen the outcry on the AA pilot message board when United announced they were going to dramatically increase opportunities for women and minorities.

ATL 757/767 seems to have some odd characters (including one who made a FB post shaming an FO for calling fatigue.) . I think base and/or longevity is a better predictor of outcome on that front. All the DTW and NYC guys I JSsd on and flew with were chill. ATL can be hit or miss.

Right. I've been here the same and I've never once heads a guard dog. Ever. And lots of condemnation of the fools who try to police guard. Many guys don't even listen anymore.

For our govt, "too big to fail" means the political fallout, be it either $$$$ donations to reelections or significant voting blocks will be so effected that "action" that the govt (party in power) must take action.

I only had a short stay AAL, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. I've now have been at DAL now for 7 years and I'm extremely happy here. I haven't seen all that many of the stereotypes I had always heard about DAL..then again, I'm not based in ATL lol. If I had lived close to any one of the AAL bases, I'd have happily stayed there. Either one would be a great option, so pick whichever one allows you to sit short call from home, or has the easiest commute.
