Amount of day trips in MIA?
Anyone has the info or can point me in the right direction... Is it easy to get day trips in MIA shortly after being hired? Or what is the percentage of 1/2/3/4 day trips in MIA?

you need to go to yonited for that DCA widebody

Currently:
6-12 months to WB FO in DC at United.
737 CA 1-3 years (unfilled vacancy can be had off probation with 500 United hours).
756 CA 12 years (if it’s around by then).
Group IV CA about 20 years (will likely drop with more 777 coming back online and the new 100+ Widebody order coming).

United at DCA (mostly IAD actually, but on the narrowbodies you can get trips in/out of DCA/BWI/IAD)

Seniorities of junior pilot holding the bid after last month's vacancy bid.
737 DCA Cap 12335
320 DCA Cap 12031
756 DCA Cap 8083
777 DCA Cap 5321
787 DCA Cap 4272

777 DCA F/O 14287
787 DCA F/O 13962

Junior pilot on property 14685

New hires have gotten DCA 320/737/756 FO slots straight out of new hire or have been able to lateral from a different base into DCA basically immediately o those fleets/seats. DCA 777/787 FO positions and 320/737 Cap positions have recently gone "unfilled" on the larger vacancy bids. At UA you have to have 500 hours at UA and be off of probation to bid for Captain, no restriction on bidding up to hiring paying FO seat.

Degree Required?
Hi all,

I'm wondering if AA has hired many pilots recently without a degree? I've been living in Canada and working for Air Canada for the past 4 years and have recently been thinking of making the move to the US and hopefully working for an American carrier so I don't have to commute to Canada. I'm married to a US citizen and am waiting for my Green Card. I'm wondering if I should finish my degree before applying, I currently have a 2 year Aviation Diploma from an aviation college in BC. My credentials are:

6000 hours TT
1100 hours PIC Q400
3000 Hours on A320

I flew for our regional in Canada (Jazz Aviation) for 3 years and now with Air Canada for 4, do I have a chance of being hired at American or is there more I can do to make myself a better candidate? Sorry I'm new to how things work south of the Canadian border so any info would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

I’d apply and see what happens. If you don’t get called then just work on your degree in the meantime. You 100% won’t get called if you don’t apply.

UA BI WB goes to the bottom of the list. Two year seat lock as a bunkie and those reserve rules….whew.

I did the AA interview recently and they estimated WB CA for someone hired today to be about 10 years. That seems pretty optimistic. Any thoughts on how accurate that is?

That’s crazy talk. But I’m sure they will say whatever they need to say to fill classes. You will need about 12-13k pilots ahead of you to either retire or pass on WB CA.

There are just under 1,000 total WB CA positions at AA. We have about twice that many pilots on property who are 40 years old or younger. So it could be about 20+ years depending on how many of them aspire to be a WB CA someday.

A big additional WB order could change that. But that seems 50/50 at best.
