It zeroes out every year. I believe it actually tops out at 270 hours each year. Use it or lose it. I think the percentage of AA pilots with over 150 hours in the sick bank is surprisingly low. We don’t get our sick time paid out either. The amount of unpaid sick days amongst Delta pilots is probably dramatically lower than unpaid sick days amongst AA pilots.

Management monkeyed with the vaccination/booster status of pilots in FOS to get PBS to solve in a way favorable to them. Resulted in injection required destination trips going to uninjected crewmembers. Had to be fixed. Thats another datapoint that supports the premise of the OP.

AA or not
I will try to name a few
long term disability. We cap at $8000/mo. Delta $15000.
Recovery obligation. When a trip cancels we are on call for the footprint of the trip. Delta has a 4 hour window where if they are not reassigned in that period they go home with no further obligation. We have to check for additional flying added to our schedules at 3pm every day of the footprint of original trip. Negotiations have shown some improvement to this item. Time will tell.
No double time option. Time and a half at companies discretion.
No override for Check Airmen. They make less than a line pilot and are required to work more days in many cases. We have a 10,000 range seniority pilot training to be a Check Airman on the 777 or 787.. That is how undesirable that job is. They will be paid narrow body pay at around 91 hours/mo. We have regular line pilots averaging way more than that. Check Airmen are not allowed to get time and a half.
Currently have an OK trip trading system (not as good as the old AWA one) but our Union has negotiated a worse one. The company is trying to implement the new one and the Union is fighting them on it. That is seriously messed up.
No profit sharing in the contract.
could use more Vacation.
Pilots want more pay for the A321. It pays same as A319. We have transatlantic flights planned on A321xlr that could get an override or new pay bucket. Being worked on now in negotiations.
Lots of groups of pilots that don’t care for other groups. Sometimes you fly with some pilots that dislike you because of your previous airline. AA, Reno, TWA, USAirways, AWA, Envoy, PSA, jets for jobs, below the line. It’s a mess sometimes. Can’t wait to merge with JetBlue and Alaska. That would be fun.
Still a great job but we have some really goofy stuff. Our board of directors in the Union are rumored to be staying in two different hotels when at meetings in Dallas. One side vs. the other side. Not good.
there is a general feeling that we are a contract behind the other legacies because we went bankrupt years after Others. There are some good things in our contract but so much is lagging.
Things change at a snails pace. Hoping it gets better but I have little faith that it will happen anytime soon. Maybe.

Living in base and driving to work is HUGE. If you live in CLT and want to stay there, then I'd say if AA offers you a job you take it and never look back.

If UPS or FedEx, I’d consider sticking it out at those. Any other, I’d definitely apply at AA. Are you over 60 (not sure what older is these days)? If so I’d probably stay put as well…
