Ah ok yeah lack of e-voting is total bs

Why is there no electronic voting? I’m 99% sure when we voted on the JCBA we did it electronically.

The most broad answer that we've been given is that the Department of Labor says it's illegal or something like that. Plus it's "the way we've always done it." Idk, all I know is that answer speaks volumes about the inherent problems with APA. Not necessarily the people in APA, but the by-laws and structure of an independent union with limited resources.

I wonder if United has to deal with this ...situation normal at AA!

PBS Delay and the Manipulation of Vaccine Records in FOS

In an effort to forcibly shape the outcome of the June LGA/777 PBS award, management chose to manipulate the vaccine records of 200 pilots in that bid status. Using a data file based on that manipulation, and over the objection of the APA members of the PBS Working Group (PWG), management began processing the award. About 30 hours into the PBS run, management halted production when APA made them aware of the fact that PBS was awarding vaccinated trips to unvaccinated pilots. A significant amount of time was spent by management going way down this data rabbit hole when it was ultimately discovered that the error was, in fact, in the logic of the PBS software. This wasted time – due to management’s worries that their manipulation of vaccine requirements had caused a problem – resulted in the delay to PBS. Had management not manipulated pilots’ vaccine records in FOS, the error would have been caught, or at a minimum handled through the Award Challenge process, both resulting in an on-time publication of the awards.

A more expansive description of the events leading up to this latest management-created fiasco can be found HERE. It is recommended that all LGA/777 pilots, at a minimum, review the full description of events to better understand exactly what management did here.

We hope PBS only incurs this management-induced 24-hour delay. We suggest that you carefully review your PBS award, especially LGA/777 pilots, and submit a PBS award challenge on AAPilots. We encourage all pilots to look at your HI22 and make sure your COVID 19 vaccination data is correct; if it is not, contact your Chief Pilot. Pilots should take screen shots of their information with the date and time noted, as management has shown that it is not above changing pilot records whenever they want without notifying the affected pilots.

But APA has done electronic voting in the past. I’m not understanding

I don't understand either. I remember voting electronically on something, maybe it was at my previous WO though. The best I can surmise is that election voting must be done by snail mail but TA voting can be done electronically. That's my best WAG...I'd be curious how Delta and United ALPA vote for their reps.

ALPA votes electronically for reps and TAs.

There was an election done electronically that was challenged by the winner and the union decided not fight it more vigorously and is hesitant to fight again in the courts. Basically pansy bs as per usual

Yep. That said, the nomination round being electronic is a relatively new thing.
