AA Check Airman Pay?

I really don’t understand why anyone would want to take that job currently. And I’m not even talking about the leverage angle either. It’s a tough job with a lot of workdays and I think 92 hours per month? You could make way more and work less (easier work too, not teaching) as a regular line line pilot. I don’t get the allure.
Maybe local DFW folks getting to spend every other month in the sim not flying could make sense, but many commute to DFW for that. Doesn’t make sense to me. I guess the name tag really has some magic powers. Makes you feel special.

But for most, it just isn’t a good deal in its current form. It just isn’t. And, per a certain chief pilot, the company has had to significantly reduce its screening in its desperation to replace the mass exodus. That’s scary. Incompetent AA mgmt is concerned, but not THAT concerned…yet.

ROFL! Seriously? Oh the HUMANITY! How will they be able to sleep knowing you won’t allow them to help you fumble your way though CQT? Activate the suicide watch!

If you work with a CKA that sucks.. give the company feedback. End of story. It doesn’t matter if they’ve been there for 6 months or 16 years… if someone is terrible, tell the company they’re terrible and when they get a few similar reports, they get yanked.

Yes. Anyone who applied and was hired after the union told us not to. Dweeb is not nearly a strong enough word. These guys/gals absolutely 150% prevented us from getting a deal. Single biggest piece of leverage we'll probably ever get. This will most likely also cause a massive degradation in quality of CKA due to the company's shotgun approach to hiring with the stringent requirement of "legally qualified." The CKA cadre is one of the lone bright spots we have as a company. This is in danger of no longer being the case.
I won’t speak to their ability as a check airmen, because any experience I’ve had with them in my time here has been great. Including recently, though they had all been check airmen for a while. That’s not the point though. The point is that the union leadership asked them to do something (which is huge considering they’re usually afraid of their own shadow) and they selfishly ignored them. There’s no doubt in my mind that despite all the excuses these “dweebs” (to put mildly) have, they single handedly prevented any sort of meaningful negotiations and subsequent TA from being agreed to.
I'll help you get started, you cant, because they never did. They detailed some possible shortcomings of the job currently, and then said this:
"We encourage any pilot who is considering applying for a CKA position to do your research and to feel free to contact the APA Check Airman Committee for insight into what the position entails under JCBA Section 12".
No "directive" or "foot stomp" there.
