AA did want to shrink Phx. Post covid recovery changed their mind for now. They want to restore and expand it.

No clue, probably a question better suited for the Envoy forums. With how much more money they make over us I am sure somebody over there can find the time to answer it for you.

Honestly AA needs a bigger west coast presence. LAX and SFO are too saturated by everyone else. AA really should expand PHX and heck SEA more to compete out there.

AA or Envoy? Two different things. AA already has a large presence in PHX. Although I do agree we need to expand our West Coast coverage; I think the best place to open up a new base for them would be Vegas.

We do have a large West Coast presence via our One World partner, Alaska. We actually should have been the ones to take over Seattle before Delta did. Now it's saturated too. But hey, I guess AS can feed our London and random flight to India if that ever comes. Vegas is such a leisure destination can we charge the fares to make it viable as a hub? Probably not. Thats why PHX is still around. PHX is the equivalent to DL's SLC and UA's Denver. I'll give credit where it is due though. Taking over Austin was a good move. I bet we could add another flight to LHR from there and it'd be full.

There is no announced date for Envoy in PHX. But Envoy is just taking over the flying from Mesa. Mesa will finally be gone from the AAG network by April 4.

The whole thing is still just a shell game. Mesa leaves (from DFW and PHX). PSA comes into DFW and Envoy into PHX. Air Wisconsin into ORD to cover the Envoy 145s being moved to Piedmont. Bottom line is no one really has the capacity (pilots) to do any expansion.

Realistically won’t have the RJ feed to open a new base unless it’s a focus city. I would like to see us expand a bit more on the west coast(coming from an east coast guy)

Bring back RNO, it’s the new tech hub for all the Bay Area refugees, including Elon.

RNO is getting better? Honestly don't know, I haven't been there in years. But that city was dying a pretty horrible slow death starting in the late 90s when Las Vegas started exploding. Still can't see opening a base there. Probably at least 10 better options on the West Coast.
