Health insurance has different levels through blue cross blue shield. I think for my family with health, vision and dental it’s $140 a pay check with the core plan.

QOL is subjective, depends on base, commuting etc. I’m a commuter and until I move closer to base it’s so so. I reserve the jumpseat on us.

Open time varies, the summer was crazy. Easier if you’re on reserve and live in base to pick up OG. Out open time system is not the greatest. Has a learning curve to it. You’ll be waiting for training anyway, I think the time is 3 months to acft training. You’ll get paid average line value for your base and acft. Roughly 82ish a month.

Upgrade in LGA might be less than 2 years after this vacancy. We got some weird text about forced upgrades in lga if you’re out of probation from APA. They will definitely be coming down year by year.

I came from a WO and we had Cadillac insurance. The insurance here is pretty terrible IMHO. As said before there are different levels and your state you live in has allot to do with the insurance. Expect a deductable and hunting for in network care.

QOL is better than what I had.. but our schedules are rough sometimes. Reassignments are rampant and we don't get any extra pay for it. Open time trips are ok and the only good thing I find in our contract is the over garentee pick while you're on reserve. Other than that the premium is a joke 50 percent. Not worth the time off.

If Delta puts their contact though, we really are the bottom of the bottom for pay and QOL. Oh and you deadhead in the middle seat now 🤬🤬🤬🤬. Transcontinental....🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

I just got a cjo last week from AA. This topic definitely interests me. Before anyone else says go somewhere else...well got a TBNT from UA and wouldn't flow to DAL for another 15 months. Love to be a WB CA in my career and at my age 38.5 only AA or UA would that be able to happen (and FDX but not saying no to a legacy). So hopefully Deltas AIP forces APA to put something good together.

Hate to sound like a Debbie downer but you would probably make a LOT more $ in your career if you wait for United or Delta. Unless APA is somehow able to pull a rabbit out of the hat we are likely going to continue trailing the industry for another 20 years. I think there are around 4k pilots with at least 20+ years to go so the big question mark on your potential 787 CA slot at AAL would be what they plan on doing with the 777 fleet. I wouldn't be surprised to see them park the whole fleet in about 10 years and use the 321XLRs to pick up some of the European flying and farm out the rest of what we can't cover with the 787s to our overseas partners. I would love to be wrong on that though and see another big 787 order or possibly a 777X order. But under current management our focus has been heavily on the domestic side of the network. Good luck. If you want to live in DFW, MIA, CLT, or PHL then AAL is a no brainer.

At 45 I don’t see how you make WB CA at AA. Go to Delta and don’t look back. Congrats on the job offers.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news.

I cant speak to the Health Insurance but guys say it sucks

We dont have near the WB slots as UAL/DL

Our trip trading has been completely locked down the last 5 months. 100% lockdown.

89hr PBS awarded lines for the bottom 50%

Yes the upgrade will be 2 years in LGA but man, those are some uncommutable crap trips. start at 0700 day 1, finish day 2 in the late evening for....10:30. Can pick up the day prior because you start too early and cant pick up the next day because you get back too late.

I am at 5 years and can barely hold 777 fo in lga.

Good luck but I would go elsewhere, wish I would have

Seniority progression at AA vs better contract at Delta. Can one make definitely outweighs the other? My family and I are willing to move anywhere.

Career progression is no longer as good at AA as most seem to think. We have approximately 1,000 WB CA positions at the airline. There are over 4,000 pilots on property aged 45 or younger (at least 20 years until retirement). Our WB network has far fewer 4 pilot trips. So our WB fleet requires less pilots per plane to staff based on our route network. Narrow body upgrade is sub 2 years everywhere now. The slightly quicker narrow body advancement at AA is offset by inferior work rules and sub standard compensation.
