Default Short Call Bidding Strategies

I've been successful bidding 2 x 7 day blocks and 1 x 4 day block thus creating a 117 conflict in the past. However, for May they've restricted the block size from 3 - 6 days. Any recommendations from you short call bidding gurus on bidding strategies to minimize sc usage. To make it easy I could care less in regards to what days I'm off or block size of days off.

I think it is highly dependent on your base and bid status. Short staffing has gotten real in my neck of the woods, and shortcall went from chill to gruesome as of late.

I don't bid reserve but I see the senior folk in my NB bid status bidding as many 3 day blocks as you can with the 1700 RAP. You're not good for much day 1, then they push your RAP earlier every day. So if you survive day 1 you're only good for a 1 or 2 day. They are they ones usually bidding PR though so with enough gaps in your RAPs you can bid for stuff like that in DOTC.

Thank you. That's exactly what a captain I just flew with reccomended. I was able to hold a line this month but am going back to sc in May until TTS gets fixed.

This. Bid 3 on 2 off with 1700 rap. If you get a red eye 2 day on day 1 and block in after 9:30pm on day 2, you have day 3 off since they cannot assign you an adjusted rap later than 10am. Also, bid every day 1 of the month off whatever day that is (1st, 2nd, whatever). If you fly into this day the entire sequence must be paid at premium and you get an additional 5:15. Takes some PBS tweaking and you have to waive the 4 day off block but it’s the best schedule around.

Thank you. I greatly appreciate the detailed gouge. I'm senior enough to have a pretty comfortable reserve life but too junior to get a decent line. It also helps living in base.

this is generally where I sit, though with long call. I’ve been proffering for 3 or 4 days trips with a non commutable back end which tends to get me an extra day or two at home.

Is it your first time bidding reserve in a while? I ask because since I've been here the selections have only been 3 to 6 days, there has not been 2 or 7 day options for length.

I don't think I've ever seen 7 day blocks as an option, yet sometimes my schedule reflects that. Most times I end up with a random 7D on there somewhere.
