I’m assuming they pulled the whole database.

My guess is that if you didn’t get a letter this past week, you’re info wasn’t in the breech… if that’s why you’re asking.

So everyone who ever had an AA app in with PilotCredentials is supposed to just "trust" them that their data was expunged before the breach? Yeah, right.

I can't wait for the class action lawsuit on this one.

What a gold mine for hackers. ALL of the personal info on pilots, a group of high income individuals. Social numbers, address history, ages, employment history, education history, literally every question ever asked to verify a credit report or open an account online. How incompetent of the company not to have taken strong protections. This is going to be a disaster if they didn't expunge everyone who was no longer current. Which I doubt they did.

There probably isn't such a thing. Inactive account data is typically archived or even deleted, back to some point in time. For system performance and cost reasons.

Although the amount of data we're talking about here is pretty trivial compared to even a handful of high-def videos so maybe they never bothered.

I hope you're right, Rick, but my experience with airline applications is that you could neglect the thing for years, then log back in to update, and all your info is right there.

my info was stolen in the 2007 Tricare data breach. They didn’t use the data until 2012. I caught it pretty quick without ID protection. Phone started rigging with CC Companies wanting to verify some information. Filed a police report and kept telling whoever called it was fraud. Lasted a few months. It was a pain but now I never have to worry about it. My SSN has been flagged no one will just open an account without multiple verification steps.

I had someone steal my identity 25 years ago. Had a credit card company call me for additional verification. Checked with the credit agencies. Found a signature loan company. He had applied to, was going to come in to pick up a check in person, later that day. They notified their suburban police. Got a call from a detective. Two detectives were at another desk, “transacting business”, waiting for him. When he signed and was handed the check, he was handcuffed. He kept saying in the interrogation room, he did not understand how he had been caught. He had been doing this fraud for two decades. He was sentenced to two years in prison.

I received a letter from AA saying my information may have been compromised and I'm getting the free credit monitoring/ID theft protection stuff. I wouldn't worry about that stuff unless you're contacted and given the ID theft tools like I did.

Surely this isn’t the first time your data has been compromised?

the reason I say this, and this statement is true for airlineapps as well. Is that I was inactive for years and years and only has to reactive and update with new address and experience.
