I did it, I know personally a dozen or so, anecdotally there seems to be a fair amount. You’ll need extra boxes checked. Military, check airman, diversity quota, job fair networking or a leveraged offer from a legacy carrier. If you fly the line and wait until your flow date, that’s what you’ll get. If you’re not at your forever job, you need to be doing everything humanly possible to move to your dream job. This is literally as easy to get hired as it’s ever been. Make yourself attractive to other majors, and AA will call. Good luck!

10% may be what he wants to hire but AA is throttling outside the flow class dates by 6-9 months due to regional staffing.
Cory is a good guy but he’s merely the face of AA pilot hiring, not the decision maker.

2 pilots in my new hire class last year beat the flow by about 2 years by leveraging CJO's from UA and DL (granted they had prior PIC and a bunch of other boxes checked, non-mil) FWIW they both just got awarded 73 CA, 15 months on property.
It happens but is VERY rare
If AA is your endgame and you aren't flowing anytime soon, I recommend getting to a ULCC asap or on at another Legacy (of course easier said than done) GL

I had an interview at AA a couple of weeks after starting training at a WO. All went well, and my app was “under review” for about 3 months. Then, got the “you’re not what we’re looking for, but go fly our people on our rj’s” email. It is what it is. Maybe you’re more qualified than I was. Degree, 14k hrs, international heavy, etc.
FWIW, a buddy of mine who’s a check airman told me they had a meeting a few weeks prior and supposedly they were told there wasn’t to be any hiring outside of the flow from WO’s.
Who knows. Good luck to you, tho!

I was just hired outside the flow, 11/1 class date. Last month I know of one person. It happens, in my case I had no LORs and no meet and greet. They reached out to me after I partially filled out my application. I interviewed on August 30th.
