Is it true that American will only be hiring in 8 months of 2024 but keep the same hiring number target? Saw a comment of RST American that implied this.

I believe 10 months like 2023 and they finished shy of 2200 in 2023 for new hires.

Actual hiring (i.e. interviews) will go the whole year, taking the occasional holiday week off. New Hire classes however will have some dark months but supposedly the same number of people will be processed this year as last. New Hire classes will be increased from their usual 45 to make up for the dark months.

Hey guys,

Happy to add to the thread! Got the CJO, (10/31 interview, TRB, then 11/29 CJO). Are March classes full? Was hoping for February but I'm hearing those are already filled up? I haven't heard anything yet, since waiting on PRIA I assume.

Also, until I move in 2-3 years I'll be commuting from IAH, was hoping for the 320. What are the best commute recommendations? I'm thinking PHL or MIA? Not a fan of reserve so I'll be looking for the quickest line.

Look forwarding to joining the team!

Both PHL/MIA will give you a line in 3-4 months!.

No March classes, per HR rep recently. Filling April classes as of this past week.

Quote: I don’t think it’s the norm, but they’ve occasionally taken a month off from classes to catch up. Can’t imagine they need a month off to catch up after they just had December off.

The other idea is maybe they are doing it strategically to reduce the total number of flows from wholly owned regionals. Something like heavy January/February classes and regular flow amount for the month, then no classes March so no flows but they already hired extra during the 2 months prior. But I’m honestly not sure if they’re doing the XL classes in Jan/feb.. just a thought.
This is quite the stretch. How many flows are there in a given month, maybe 50? They're gonna not hire anyone at mainline so they can retain 50 pilots from 3 different subsidiaries??? I highly doubt this is some nefarious master plan by AA to retain 50 pilots companies for 30 additional days.

Somebody cares about staffing at WOs but not the people scheduling the indoc classes for AA. I agree there is no conspiracy. Their job is to fill classes and they will do so with off the street hiring and flows in accordance with the various agreements.

Did you elect to begin training after the background check is complete? If you don't have any skeletons in the closet, let them do all that stuff while you're on property.

Welcome aboard!

I went with option 1. Almost a month since the CJO and still waiting on a call for a class date. Background check says pending adjudication, whatever the hell that means. I saw the background check and it's clean, so I'm just biding my time.
