Seems like the consensis is AA NB schedules tend to result in less total monthly days off than any of the Big 4. If true, why? Is it inefficient trip scheduling or just low pilot manning...or something else? Any reason to believe this will imporve in 2024?

American has the worst staffing levels of the Big 4 but many factors go into pairing construction. We'll see how things shake out.

From what I have seen for an average line guys schedule, AA 3 days are worth roughly 15-16 hours. A four day is roughly 20-21 hours. Compared to my buddy at United who is roughly the same seniority to me on the 73, his trips credit more. Eg. 25 hr 4 day trips, maybe more. The result is less days off at American than the others.

About 25 days off a month on SC 320 FO LAX. Give or take a few days. I had to proffer to fly in order to consolidate. Don't come here if you don't want to sit around and get paid for not flying. Also impossible to fly on holidays with all the money grubbing people with more seniority picking up the premium.

AFAIK they don't post the monthly avereage per day anymore, or it's shifted to someplace else (PBS cover pages??), but the average per day is typically close to 5:30 +/- 5 minutes if my memory is correct. So the average 3 day is more like 16:30 and the average 4 day is more like 22:00.
Back when SW flew less days than AA and AA's n/b flying sucked, or so the group think said, SW posted their monthly days flown, income, etc to show the Air Trans guys how much better they'd have it under the SW contract. The most shocking thing that came out of that was .... drumroll.... the average days at AA and SW were within small decimals of each other. I'd rather see a larger data based comparison vs a small anecdotal comparison.

Our contract allows the sodomizer (PBS pairing construction program) avoid soft time to the extreme. OAL's have better pairing construction rules/work rules.

One guy never had a layover longer than 13 hrs and he'd been there for 3 yrs. YMMV I'm sure.
Just sayin' everyone has their issues.
