25. We'll hire another 300 or so, I would imagine, to match attrition. We need to at least do that to keep up with the aircraft that are on the way.

Perfect time to spin up BOS 320 and PHL 737................

Exactly. I'd bet one, BOS 320 most likely, will show up on the next vacancy.

It makes sense for XLR purposes. Would all those senior 73 guys bid 320? I’m curious.

I thought XLR was going to be out of JFK and PHL?

Thats what they keep saying yeah. I’m just saying BOS would make a lot of sense too.

Why do WB flying for a few dollars more but yet so much less than a 777 and 787 guy? I know plenty of people who are going to be outright avoiding it. If they expect me to do long haul flying, I want to get paid for it as a long haul guy.. not some “override”

The “long haul” XLR flying will pay what Delta’s 763 pays. I know we go back and forth on whether that’s “wide body” enough.

I imagine most senior BOS 737 CAs wouldn’t bid en masse for a theoretical BOS 320 CA because of some combination of zero desire to go to training and zero desire to incur a new seat lock.

On the other hand, if you live a drivable distance to BOS (seems every BOS pilot I meet lives in New Hampshire) and want “wide body” flying… not commuting to the 777 or 787 might be appealing.

We flew across the Atlantic for decades on the 75/76 for less than WB pay. The XLR override is pretty equivalent to the old school G3 pay. I would bid it if they opened BOS. If nothing else it adds variety. BOS flying is pretty stale. If you hate the "WB" stuff you can just bid regular trips.

I think the XLR, BOS or not, is gonna have some pretty cool niche destinations you might not see on the 777/787.

I am a little worried about the makeup of the trips based on some scheduling committee statements.........

Yeah, maybe BOS has a large enough O&D basin that it would work. Or BOS may give it enough additional range to get further into eastern Europe as well.

So don't bid it. I for one and looking forward to it and hope I can hold it as a ~6000 number.

We get paid based on size of the plane not where it goes.

Never a shortage of AA pilots who find offense easily.
