Quote: Bro we have all done this. Local flying lessons, divorces, major sacrifices, debt, etc etc. Mil guys have gone to deployments, "time away from family" being in the middle east for 6+ months while they dodged bombs, bullets, and IEDs.
I definitely understand the point of your post, but I will say that there are a lot of younger folks these days who had the skids greased quite a bit to get their first flying job. For some folks their first job was/is a flying job! How does one do that if mom and dad aren't footing the bills? Must be nice. It's especially fun listening to them b*tch about not having that mainline job yet.

For you seminatics Nazis, I did not say ALL younger folks. Pay attention!

Kind of like those who participated in Cecil's Friends and Family Plan because they couldnt get hired through the normal channel?

The point of my original post is that with few exceptions all of us have paid heavily to be here. Some knob looking down on others just because they dont fly as big an airplane, or for the same company, or maybe don't have as much time doing inverted ILS's (without a Form 337 on the Cargo Net!) is just that- a f'n knob.

With attitudes like that it's no wonder this company and this profession are financially, morally, and ethically bankrupt, adrift, floating towards the falls.

I guess I should have clarified myself more...which is not to argue with you, to be sure.

When Satpak said we all have been through the mud, that really struck a chord with me. And no beef with Satpak, either. The statement made me think of the folks who have gotten to 121 flying, and often 121 sweptwing jet flying, without many of the traditional hardships. And in talking with those types, I can really tell their perspective is waaay different than mine! And in the old salts' eyes...I probably got where I did easily!

Hey I resemble that remark!

I went out of my way to network with Cecil simply b/c I didn't know anyone else at AA. I figured, what the heck, nothing to lose. At the time I met him I was a lowly regional J-41 F/O with 0 turbine PIC and no ATP.

When I got hired at AA I was STILL a lowly regional J-41 with no ATP.

You see, it pays to network.

AA- you're right, it does. This conversation is totally NOT about about you. You're a standup guy who DOESN'T have an attitude. You seem to care about your fellow man, not look down on him.

But that is an example perhaps even exceeding what these guys a complaining about.

I can back up AA73.....I knew him personally when we BOTH "lowly" regional pilots, he worked the system (in a good way) and got a break.

Me, I was hired at UAL age 28 with an ATP and 2 types, 2200PIC Turbine, Degree etc...I was at the interview so I could get rejected and get hired at Delta, UAL screwed me and hired me.....
