in most all scenarios, "AA" and "LCC" are interchangeable as far as who is being broken up, etc.

Take DFW, take the hubs, take the gear

Break it up and let LCC die on their own, unable to compete with the new monster on the block.

AA is the pink sheet, Ch.11 company, last time I checked. LCC is not. Who is the wounded animal subject to being victimized ?
Sure anything could happen. Virgin Galactic could buy the DFW hub and transport people to the moon.

Realistically, an AA Chapter 7 scenario isnt as likely as a full blown AA/BA merger in my opinion (despite the current laws). If AA was really in the "Oh poop, we are F-ed" mode then I could see BA+TPG making some sort of cash injunction to save the company from Ch7 at the least.

The dreams of DAL buying MIA/DFW and UAL taking ORD are freakin nonsense. AA being parted out and sold would be the END of the oneworld alliance. None of the core oneworld members would let that happen (except maybe Cathay because they like being aloof).

Of course this is all hypothetical. That's why I termed it thinking "outside the box".
