Default Former Reno Air Pilots...

Any chance any former Reno pilots can shed some light on the current situation with B6 and draw some comparisions and conclustions.

All we hear from management is "Organic Growth" and "Stand alone carrier".

I wonder if Reno guys heard similar or different things before their merger with AMR.

Hey Martin, whaddup Beeotch.

I was tooling around the Blue Ridge skies with the likes of yo' a s s when the Reno deal went down. What I do know is that AA pulled out of a bunch of Reno markets right before the purchase.

Now I see AA pulling out of one Carib (B6) market after another. To me that is a good indication of an impending purchase.

Maybe I can sling gear for you once again. Be sure to bring AD Volumes 1-3!

Ps.. No more dancing at nightclubs with ancient F/As on layovers.

Does anyone know of an old Reno Air Captain/First Officer by the name of Mike Raker?

Do you remember where he was based? And could his last name have been Caraker?

Nov 15 1998 I landed in SAN and the agents said AA bought us. The last 6 months they had fired the CEO Redding and an Ex UAL VP O'Gorman ? I think was his name took over as CEO.
There were alot of changes and things were running smoother.
It's been too long, I don't remember any "organic or stand alone" talk. In fact, I think we all knew or thought the "for sale" sign was up.
In no way would I ever compare us with Jet Blue as we were small 320 pilots.
I was a senior FO at QQ (Reno Air) and would have been in the next class of CA's though it was not scheduled.

I freely admit I won the lottery! And i've had a great time at AA. But, do I struggle with the ways things are done at AA? Every day!
Even after the merger/acquisition we had one pilot go to United and another go to Northwest. They were more interested in domiciles.

I had a great time at QQ and many of my stories are not fit for this forum!

I was an Eagle newbie with Reno joined the AA family. On the bus from the training center to the hotel one afternoon I struck up a conversation with a cute AA new hire girl who was maybe 30 years old. I asked what she thought of it.

Her: "Oh, I think it's great. New company expansion, more airplanes, more domiciles."
Me: "So I heard ALL of the Reno pilots would probably be stapled to the bottom...that seems a little harsh."
Her: "Well, none of them should be senior to me. I may be new but I was good enough to get on with AA and none of them were, that's why they where at Reno".
Me: (Shocked) "Well..uh....OK then....good luck with training"

Probably good I got that lesson out of the way early. I'm REALLY excited to be getting my chance to join the "family".

Well then, I guess that past conversation you had with the AA pilot means all of us at AA will be stapled since it is USAirways that is doing the acquiring. "Acquired, not hired" is ringing a bell.... where did I hear that before? Oh that is right "Two Great Airlines, One Great Future." Lets not forget the stapling of Reno pilots, so I guess what comes around, goes around.

But I have heard this statement, "this is different!" REALLY?! What makes this different? American is now the one that has sat in bankruptcy for the past two years? USAirways purchased 1 million in debt to have a seat at the table in order to have this deal happen? AMR is done and USAirways is now at the helm... so I guess that are somewhat correct in saying this is different.

Good luck to all of us at AA and I'll see you at the bottom with the rest of us.
