When I was at pinnacle as an FO, gate agents started blabbing at me about how overpaid I was and blah blah blah for not agreeing to the company's recent contract proposal to us.

I made 25,000 dollars that year.

So, no... I do not give much weight to their idle chatter. :)

Perception is reality. Have you gone out into the terminal and looked at the departures board? Looks like 40% of flights are delayed. Then you have a FA or GA gabbing, even if it is talking out of their arse, and the public starts to think that the pilots are staging a slowdown.

AMR just sent APA a written request to get back to the table and negotiate!

Imagine that...maybe an olive branch in the offing?

Given how AMR management has stepped on themselves whilst wearing golf shoes at every turn thus far in these proceedings I would think that is highly unlikely.

I'm sure they've hunkered down in Centre Port with their hordes of MBA toting "Consultants" trying to ascertain exactly why the operation has completely gone off the rails.

They already have the answer about why the operation has completely gone off the rails, it's because of pilots writing airplanes up last minute, don't worry about flights being cancelled 2 and 3 days in advance the fact that the mechanics are ****ed off as well as the gate agents. I believe AMR had this planned all along, when other carriers adjusted their fall schedules AMR said it wasn't but now it is magically reducing capacity 1-2%. So they sell the tickets by making more flights available but then shrink the schedule to increase load factor on the completed flights. It has already been proven that AA pilots are ****ed but not calling in sick much higher than the last year and actually less than this summer while the flight attendants are calling in sick at a higher pace.

Called MX for a missing screw. 1.5 hours later we departed. The funny thing is, every airline employee at every airline should be doing this everyday. Does the media really think company X's planes are any better serviced than ours? They just ignore the fact that crap is overlooked daily at ALL airlines.

Mason32 09-25-2012 12:06 PM

AMR is learning the lesson the hard way; don't pizz off the pilots... We ARE the airline.
