Uniforms
Have any of you AA guys heard anything else about the new uniforms? I wonder if that is on hold.
During the "town hall" with employees in PHX Parker was asked about the new paint and branding. He said they would have to look at it all and really think about the image they wanted to put out there. |
Doubt uniforms are on the "to do list" at this point.

I wish they would just stay with AA's. |

Under Toho we are scheduled to get new uniforms.
When Parker takes over, all bets regarding new unis and the paint job are off. However, he won't take over for another 6 months so we might get the new unis by then. I'm not hearing positive things about the new unis (shocker.) I've been hearing all gray w/ blue stripes as a possibility... |

It looks like they are hiring a couple Hollywood designers (KAUFMANFRANCO) to create the new look and the big reveal will be in 18 months.
American hires Hollywood designer for new crew uniforms |

I think the US guys have a lot better looking uniforms than the AA guys.
Maybe you guys can meet somewhere in between. |

I'm hoping there is a bolo tie somewhere in this.

Belt buckles 4"X6" max should work for most.

heard, grey with teal stripes............wow...

I want slacks and polo shirts with a logo, plus some sort of modest rubber-soled work shoe.
But what I want doesn't mean jack, so it will undoubtedly be hideous and uncomfortable. At the end of every trip I race upstairs to change out of my monkey-suit. Can't stand it. |
Along the lines of revenue being generated from added services like heated cabins, uniforms will be open to the highest bidder for advertising patches like NASCAR, including multiple hats for photo ops.

I hear the "Virgin" uni will be the template for the new AA uni......A substantial cost savings will be achieved by exing the tie..

We need to get back to hats, but something bold and new. I think these would look dashing with a charcoal uniform! bowler hat - Google Search |
Pan Am white hats!

I think they need a uniform which properly reflects the new paint scheme and new image.
Like this one. http://hdwallpapersbase.com/wp-conte...-wallpaper.jpg |
An AMR BOD member had direct connections with the ground ops uniform company. Look for a similar tie up with the new board as the new supplier.

You can vote on the new uniforms right now on the company website. I thought it was funny when they asked if we thought ties were important/necessary. The rumor is they want PSA/Piedmont/AE to have the exact same uniforms to save money. We're trying to get everyone to say something in the comments(of the survey) to keep the company from doing this.

You are right. Mainline should be gold jackets with platinum stripes to signify how much more important they are than the regional "slobs".

I didn't mean to offend you guys but we do work for different airlines and I think our uniforms should reflect that.
http://rlv.zcache.com/i_am_better_th..._804gs_512.jpg I mean seriously. This we vs us stuff is what creates b-scales, 50% outsourcing, you name it. Are you proud to be a part of a profession where half the pilots can barely afford to raise a family, just because you are in the "upper" half? If everyone had that attitude, eventually you won't work for any company at all... you'll end up beating your chest about some shell-game company. |

I would like to eventually see no regionals. You get on at a major and start flying a regional jet, but you are an American, United, etc. pilot. I think this would deal with some of the pay and safety issues at the regionals. Will it happen? I really doubt it. Should we have different uniforms? For now, yes.

One airline wearing different a uniform from another airline does not create "b-scales, 50% outsourcing, you name it". Most of the flying you guys are doing used to be mainline anyways. All I see here is regional guys that want to be mistaken for mainline guys and mainline guys that don't like to be mistaken for regional guys. I hate to say it, but there is a huge difference. If you could please leave your inferiority complex on the regional forum that would be great. |
AA is a Texas company. I say go for boots, bolo tie, and cowboy hats!

+ 1 on regional and majors having different uniforms. Two totally different airlines and the uniforms should reflect that.
Contrary to what was written above - Having the same uniform is just one of many factors that BROUGHT turmoil to this profession. If you don't see that then my friend you are naive. Same paint jobs, same uniforms, same procedures - itīs all part of a carefully orchestrated plan to all be one and the same singing kumbaya together. Managementīs wet dream come true! Well, folks, pardon my straightfrowardness but once your dues are paid and you score your dream job, the LAST thing you want is for your position to be slowly diluted and eroded away into the lowest common blend so that "we are all one and the same." Sorry, but that's the exact attitude airline management wants us to adopt, and I resist that to the max. This is not a slam on regional pilots, as your jobs are just as demanding as your major airline counterparts, if not more, and I will never consider myself superior to anyone - but rather, an effort to maintain the major airline pilot position at the highest level it can be. Now, as someone else above wrote - bring the regional pilots into mainline and start off on the lowest paying equipment, now we're talking: same uniforms, paint, etc - absolutely. But as long as the airlines remain separate and the regional pilot groups are handed over outsourced flying from the majors, no thanks: now we have pilot groups taking flying at the expense of others. When I was an ACA pilot, we had our own uniform despite the fact that it was strictly United Express (this was pre-DL Connection days) and we were proud of that. We did NOT want to look like UAL or DL pilots. And the same should apply today. Just one man's opinion and again, not a slam on regional pilots. Just trying to keep what (little) we still have. |
